When I got home my daughter was lying on the couch, ear buds in texting her friends on her fancy new phone.
"Where is your mother?" I ask

"She's in the kitchen cooking"

"Have you done your homework?"

She ignores me

I went to the kitchen to see what she was making. Whatever it was, it smelled delicious. She had cut up some vegetables for a salad, and put the knife and cutting board in the sink.

"Honey?" I called.

I checked the bedroom, nothing. The bathroom, still nothing. I went back into the living room.

"Did you do your homework?"

She keeps ignoring me, I walk over to the couch and snatch the phone from her hands. I've had enough of her belligerent attitude lately.

"HEY! Give that back!" She screams rolling off the couch

"Where is your mother?"  Holding the phone away from her "I'm getting angry"

"Oh my god! I told you she's in the kitchen! Cooking!"

"I was just in their, she's not there"

"Look again"

"Do your homework"

"No, give me back my phone!"

"Not until your homework is done"

I went back to kitchen, leaving her to vent her frustration with one of her screaming, stomping tantrums.

"I HATE YOU"

Fucking teenagers

I went back trough the kitchen, to the laundry room. Empty.

Suddenly, I feel a sharp stabbing pain deep and sharp, I wanted to scream and collapse but my body wouldn't let me, so I turn in agony, to barley see my smiling daughter holding the kitchen knife covered in a thick red liquid.

She casually took the phone my from hand, smiling. I stare at her with what vision I have left, in disbelief.

"I told you" she says, "she's cooking"

Then walks over and turns on the oven light for me to see with the last seconds of life I have. And I fall the world fading to blackness.
