I’ve had a rough day, so I decided company of my friend, Grey, would make me feel better. But never did I think it would end in heartbreak. It all started that morning….
~.
“OH SNAP,” Vasi yelled as she heard the last of the school bell ring.
“I’m gonna be late!” She muttered under her breath. She scurried on her worn out brown boots, her black jeans constricting her from going faster. Her grey long sleeve Hollister shirt, also tight, just barely helped her keep on her Florida Gators backpack that kept slipping off. She grabbed the door handle and hurried in, with a glare at Mrs. Burn, her science teacher. Vasi walked through her class, her short wavy dark brown, almost black, hair falling in her face. She took her seat and turned around to face her friends Laurie and Taylor. Vasi pulled out a book filled with random ‘what if’ questions. She asked a few, then her friend John joined the three girls, so did Joey, Vasi’s best friend. 30 minutes passed and class was over. Vasi ignored the hounding of Laurie for more questions and walked with Taylor to their second period class next door. Luis, Taylor’s boyfriend stayed with her in the hallway as they waited. Vasi frowned at this as the memories from Monday (two days ago) came flooding in her head. It was a regular bell schedule in 5th period. Soon the weather alarm rang and the class was forced to sit far away from the windows. Cathy, Vasi’s other friend, stayed in her seat, leaving Vasi bored with her other classmates on the floor. She turned only to find Jordan, her ex-boyfriend next to her. Vasi and Jordan talked, trying not make anything awkward. The bell rang and Vasi rushed to her seat to grab her backpack. Slipping on the backpack, she pulled Cathy’s light brown hair which was made into a neat braid.
“Thanks for leaving me with Jordan” Vasi said sarcastically
“You’re welcome” Cathy exclaimed with a smile.
Just as the two girls were about to exit the room, Vasi felt a cold hand on her shoulder. She turned her head and noticed it was Jordan. His emerald eyes shining through his pale blonde hair, almost white.
“Can I help you?” Vasi asked as she turned to see Cathy walking away from them.
“Yes,” Jordan said softly. “Can we get back together?” he asked with excitement on his face. Vasi couldn’t say no. it’s not like a lot of girls really like Jordan.
She snapped back to reality as her teacher, Mrs. Barber, called the class in. Vasi took her seat next to Taylor and in front Arin, Cathy’s ex-boyfriend. Vasi looked at Arin and frowned. ‘Wish I was as brave as Cathy’ She thought as she took out her language arts notebook. Today was Wednesday, which meant that the students would only have their even numbered classes out of their 7 periods, starting with 2nd and ending with 6th. After an hour and forty minutes in language arts, Vasi walked out of the hallway and outside with the sound of the bell ringing once again. She climbed upstairs and walked down the corridor, which consists of 3 hallways. She smiled as the warmth of the sun rest upon her hair. She walked over to the doors of the center hallway and began to walk down the noisy hallway. She stiffened as the cold glares from other students directed at her. This has been happening since the first week of school, which was months ago. She shook her head and took her mind off it as she entered the cold classroom. She took her seat in the back as she prepared for the horrors of intensive math. Her classmates were obnoxious and her teacher, Mrs. Morse did nothing but threaten to give them a referral, but never did. Vasi sighed as she put her head down, replaying what happened on Monday. ‘Why did I even say yes? I don’t like him…’ Vasi thought. Her thoughts were interrupted by a text from Taylor. Vasi looked up to make sure Mrs. Morse wasn’t looking, but as usual she was on her computer. Vasi looked down at her phone, constantly having to push away strands of her hair away. She continued to text Taylor until she decided it was time to start SOME work. She began to work her math when Taylor had texted her once again.
“BTW what did you want to tell me yesterday? What awkward moment with Grey??” the message said.
Vasi smirked as she replied. She stared at her paper as she thought about what had happened with Grey the day before. In 5th period, Vasi was working on her computers project.
“Hey Cathy, I’m going to the bathroom, make sure nobody messes around with my computer.” She said as she stood up. Vasi walked out of the classroom and into the girls bathroom which was right next to her class. She walked into the stall and stared in the mirror. She pushed away her bang, which hid a spotted forehead. “I got to stop this…” She thought. After finishing she made her way towards the exit. And right there, the second she walked out, was Grey. The two stopped in their tracks, staring at each other.
“Awkward.” Grey said breaking the silence. Vasi laughed as he walked up to her. The two hugged while Grey whispered something in her ear. Vasi blushed and punched him on the arm.
“You’re such a pervert,” Vasi said chuckling. “Well I gotta go, bye Grey. Love you.” She said walking back to class as she heard the sweetest ‘I love you’ from her best friend from elementary school. Vasi went back to her seat and explained what had happened to Cathy, but suddenly stopped when Jordan came.
*Ding*
Vasi’s thoughts were interrupted as her lunch bell rang in the middle of class, as they regularly do on Wednesdays.
