I am yet again awoken by my alarm which is blasting a really irritating sound which is similar to those from the sirens in movies when a bomb is going to drop. I stay in bed for a moment and slowly get out. I go to the bathroom and do my morning routine. Once I'm done taking a shower and brushing my teeth I get dressed and get breakfast. I pour myself a cereal into a bowl and start to eat. I watch tv for a couple of minutes before I realize that there's a voicemail on the house phone. Before I listen to it I go to my moms room to see that she's not there. That's when I listen to it
"Hello, is this the Moon residents? This is Dr.Anderson. I'm here to tell the family member of Ms. Sophia Moon that she'll be staying at the hospital for a day or two so that we can proceed examination. She request a change of clothes just Incase it takes longer then expected. Thank you and have a good day."
When I hear this I drop the phone and get a change of clothes from my moms room. I call a cab since the hospital she is at is way too far to go by bus or train. As I'm waiting for the cab outside all I can think of is terrible things that can be wrong but I'm also trying to stay positive. The cab finally arrives and I give him directions to the hospital. After a twenty minute ride I get out and rush into the hospital. I approach the desk and ask for information.
"Yes I'm looking for Sophia Moon. In which room is she staying ?" I ask the nurse behind the desk.
"May I get your name sir?" She ask while typing on the computer.
"Yes my name is Rick Moon, I'm the son of Sophia Moon." I say as I anxiously keep tapping on the desk.
"Oh here she is. Your mother is in room 4-341. I'll get a doctor to meet you there." She says as I finally start heading towards the elevator.
I wait for it to come down but I'm obviously too anxious so I go and head up the staircase.
I got to the fourth floor really quickly and don't realize that I am out of breath. I walk throughout the halls looking for my mothers room. Eventually I see a doctor standing outside of a room. That room reads 4-341."Can I enter?" I ask the doctor while slowly feeling my throat close up.
"Yes, but before you enter you need to know something." He says while trying not to look at me in the eye as if there's something he's not willing to tell me just yet.
"What is it doctor?" I ask right before my voice cracks as I am engulfed with fear, anger & sadness.
"Well your mother isn't in the best condition right now so I just wanted you to know before you step inside and see her in her situation." He says while finally looking at me in the eye.
"I think I can handle it" I say trying to sound alright.
He opens the door and walks in and I follow. I am frozen in place at what I see. I can feel tears run down my face and I slowly start to sob.
"Mom?" I say in a low voice as I cry at the sight of my own mother connected to all these machines
