Chapter 1: Looking Back Part 1 

April 1979 

(Everyone gathers around in Lucas house in Black suits and Black dresses)  

Lily: Where is J.R. at Damn? The Limo will be here in a minute.  

Uncle John: I Told you he was in the bathroom.  

Aunt Sarah: Look If the motherfucker don't wanna go to his own daddy funeral. Ain't nobody gonna beg his ass, I know i ain't shittd.  

Lucas: Aunt Sarah noone asked you.  

Grandma Lucille: Yaw cut out that fuss in here now. Can we Atleast have this one day to get along with each other.  

Uncle Bo: Well its a damn shame, it take a funeral for all of us to decide to get along with each other.  

(Aunt Sarah takes a shot of liquor)  

Aunt Sarah: Wooo Weee  

Lucas: Aunt Sarah why are you drinking before the funeral?  

Aunt Sarah: Awww Lucas shut the fuck up cause i guarantee yo mean ass brother in the bathroom doing the same thing.  

(Uncle Bo and Uncle John laugh)  

Uncle Bo: Give me a shot of That shit fuck it.  

(Lucas walks to the bathroom and knock on the door)  

Lucas: J.R. what are u doing man the limo just pulled up  

(J.R. takes a whole shot of corn liquor and then takes another one)  

Lucas: J.R.???  

J.R.: Alright man Im coming shit.  

Grandma Lucille: You Alright Jerrick baby?  

J.R.: Yea Grandma of course.  

(Everyone get in the limo and drive off to the church) 

(Everyone arrives at the funeral  

(Leeroy Payton lies in the casket as family and friends view his Body)  

Rev. Walker: Yes Yes, A-men Mr. Leeroy Payton  

(Lucas and J.R. look at each other)  

(Grandma Lucille grabs J.R. hand)  

(J.R. glances at his father in the casket)  

Lily: You Ok?  

J.R.: Shut up  

Lily: You smell like a damn open bottle.  

J.R.: I said shut up.  

(Lucas taps J.R.)  

Lucas: Shhhh  

J.R.: Man fuck you  

(Lucas shakes his head at J.R.)  

Rev. Walker: And now Sister Edna Waters will read the Eulogy.  

Sister Waters: Everyone read along silently. Walter LeeRoy Payton was born on July 15th, 1932 in Montgomery, Alabama to Arthur and Lucille Payton. He is preceded in death by his father Arthur Beechie Payton, and his wife Alexandria Gordon Payton.  

(J.R. and Lucas eyes start to tear up)  

(J.R. starts sweating and shaking his leg)  

Sister Waters: Leeroy was employed driving the New York City Subway for 18 years.
