Fall Kisses

I sat by a tall oak tree in the park across the road from the high school, pulling my cream turtle neck up to protect my chin from the fall breeze. Me and my friends usually meet up here after school to do homework and chat. The old oak tree I was sat under was our usual meeting spot. If it was taken, Kimizuki would usually go hassle some kids off the swing set. The kids called him 'the pink haired bully'. His sarcastic attitude and harsh glare scared some people, but once you got to know him, he wasn't that bad.

I sat under the tree and started to read, I pushed a strand of my blonde hair behind my ear as my red eyes scanned the page. Well I wasn't really reading, I was thinking about Yuu. The boy with the black hair and green eyes has captured my full attention. I sound like a cheesy hopeless romantic. I know, I know. But It's true, at first I only noticed small things about Yuu like his smile, or they was he laughed. I soon began noticing more and more things, I would get so caught up watching him I zoned out sometimes. Of course, people noticed I wasn't listening, it didn't take long for Yoichi to notice my little crush. But for now that secret stayed between us.

"Mika!" I heard Mitsuba call my name, she was waving a paper in the air to get my attention as she ran over to the tree. Her blonde hair was pulled up in it's usual pigtails. She pushed her bangs out of her purple eyes as she sat down across from me.

"Oh, hey Mitsuba." I said, snapping out of my little daze and putting my book down. We talked for a little bit, mostly her complaining about her math teacher, soon everyone else had arrived. Including Yuu.

We talked about the latest school gossip, Ferid and Krul were arguing again, causing some trouble in the theater department. I was part of the theater department but everyone else in the group played a sport. Shinoa and Mitsuba played softball, Kimizuki and Yuu played football, and Yoichi played soccer. The two groups usually stayed away from each other but since I was friends with Yuu I was welcomed to the group.

After talking for a while we started to work on our homework. Kimizuki and Shinoa started to work on a project they had together and I buried my face back into the book I was reading.

As I was reading I felt an arm wrap around my waist and a head rest on my shoulder. Yuu can be a very touchy friend, but he had never done this before, in front of all our friends.

"What are you doing!" I said, Yuu jolted upward, surprised by my actions. I blush had begun to make it's way across my face.

"I was jus-"

"Ooooh Mika, are you blushing?" Shinoa said crossing her arms over her chest, a smug look on her face. I attempted to pull the turtleneck further up my face, I wanted to hide inside of it and disappear, but all eyes were on me.

"No, I'm just h-hot." I responded praying that would be a good enough answer to get the attention off me.

"Damn right you are," A voice said next to me. All heads turned toward Yuu, everyone was shocked, me more than anyone else. I was certain that my face was as red as my eyes now "listen Mika I've always k- kinda had a cr-."

A wide smile spread across my face as I tackle-hugged him to the ground, cutting him off mid-sentence. The rest of the group was smiling and laughing at this point.

"It's about time." I heard Yoichi whisper.

"AAHHH I SHIP IT!" Mitsuba yelled as she joined us on the park ground. One by one everyone joined in on the hug. Through all the madness I felt Yuu kiss my cheek.

I couldn't have been happier.
