Amelia's P.O.V

I walk down to the Middle school to pick up my little sister Katlyn after the last day of school. I wait for the bell to ring and sit down near the benches where I told Katlyn where to meet me. Once I see her coming out I walk over to her, "Hey how was your last day?" I ask,

"Ugh terrible, you know the guy I have a crush on?" She asks as we walk down the road to go to our house, "Ummmm... Michael?" I ask,

"Yeah, well during lunch he sat next to me and when he asked me something nothing came out! I was so nervous to talk to him! It was my only shot to actually have a conversation with him and nothing came out." She says, "Well probably next time you'll have the courage to talk to him." I say,

"Can you believe it's summer vacation already?" Katlyn asks, "Well I'm glad I don't have to go to school, but I'm also scared cause of dad and mom." I say,

"Me too." Katlyn says as we turn to our street, I look in our driveway and didn't see dad's car, "Okay dad's not home, and neither is mom. Something is probably wrong." I say as we walk into our house,

"Amelia, I'm scared... What if dad comes home drunk again? He'll beat us again, Please tell me he won't please..." Katlyn starts to cry, "I won't let him hurt us again. Let's just quickly get an apple and we go to our rooms okay?" I say as we step inside the house. Katlyn goes to the kitchen and grabs two apples and I grab two water bottles, as we pass the kitchen counter to go upstairs I see papers scattered on it. I walk closer to them and pick one up it read 'Divorce papers' at the top. Oh No. I hear a car pull up and a door slam really hard,

"Katlyn go to my room and lock the door now, and don't leave your backpack down here go." I say starting to worry that dad will burst through the door at any moment,

"Amelia, no I don't want you to get hurt." Katlyn whispers starting to cry, "Katlyn please lock my door and don't come out no matter what you here." I say as the door slams open. I look back as soon as Katlyn runs up the stairs,

"DID YOU KNOW YOUR MOM WAS GOING TO DIVORCE ME?!?!" Dad yells throwing his suitcase on the floor, I knew he was drunk because I could smell the alcohol from him, "N-No S-sir." I say shaking,

"DID YOU KNOW?!" He asks coming closer to me, "N-no." I say,

"DON'T LIE TO ME!!! YOU PROBABLY HELPED HER PLAN IT!!" He screams, "I didn-" before I could say anything else he slapped me right across the face,

"YOU THINK I DIDN'T KNOW YOU HELPED HER?? WHERE'S KATLYN SHE PROBABLY HELPE YOU GUYS OUT AS WELL!!" He yells, "DON'T TOUCH HER!" I scream which was a bad idea because the next thing I know he grabbed me by my hair and threw me against the wall. He then grabs me again and starts slapping me and I think he punched me because I felt a sharp pain in my stomach,

"DID YOU JUST YELL BACK AT ME?!" He asks pulling out his belt and folding it, I stayed quiet,

"ANSWER ME!" He yells back this time hitting me. After he hits me repeatedly for about 1 minute he puts his belt back on,

"Next time don't talk back to me, because if you do I'll hurt you worse." He says leaving the house slamming the door behind him. I couldn't move so I stayed there crying my eyes out.

Katlyn's P.O.V

Once I run up the stairs I go into Amelia's room and lock it like she told me. Soon I hear the front door open and dad screaming. After dad yells at Amelia I hear the sound of a slap, I started to cry. Why was this happening? Why would she take this all on her? She always protected me every time dad would come home drunk. I heard my name come from my dad and Amelia yelled for him not to touch me. I then heard a loud thump like if something had hit the wall that's when I called Luke (My brother), after three rings he picks up,
