Chapter Six: Didn't like the smell of that shampoo anyway-

“Melissa!” I sang her name as loud and for as long as my lungs would allow me. The high pitched note seemed to echo from building to building, catching everyone's attention.

I glared from the doors of the east annex and caught Melissa at the front gates, surrounded by a group of people whom I didn't recognise. The only way I knew it was Melissa was by her lion mane of hair.

I couldn't contain my excitement as I charged across the field that separated us, positively buzzing with energy at the sight of her, like a bee to a flower. It had only been an hour and a half since I last saw her, Liss was barely in any of my classes and I sure did miss my partner in crime this particular afternoon.

I saw her duck behind one of the guys in her group, a feeble attempt to hide herself from me. As I got closer I realised that the group of loitering students was Adam and his boyfriend with his cricket posse. Each one giving me a weary look as if I carried the plague. I skipped in the middle of their circle and pulled Melissa by the arm from behind Adam.

“For a moment there Liss I thought you were trying to avoid me.” I said pulling a face.

“Yeah,” she giggled weakly. “Fancy that.”

I looked up beside her to the ever gorgeous Adam, and noticed that there was something different about him today. He seemed to be experimenting with women's make-up as there was a black rim around both his eyes along with a modest amount of mascara on his lashes. They enhanced his eyes tenfold and I found myself getting lost in those pools of smothering honey. Who knew one could find a guy wearing make-up so attractive? That boy needed to wear sunglasses or something, I don't care if it was cloudy outside and was threatening to rain, he was dangerous. One look, that's all it takes, and you're teetering on the fine edge of insanity.

A pout pushed itself onto my lips as I continued to stare up at him. “Why do you have to be gay, Adam?”

Adam was the perfect match for Melissa, too bad he batted for the other team. As if Melissa could read my mind she sighed in agreement. No, I refused to believe that the only decent guys in this world were gay. Adam chuckled deeply and a blush flooded his face.

“Am I looking irresistible today, Shay-Shay?”

All I could do was nod my head moodily. It was only when Adam's boyfriend, Ryan, came close and wrapped a possessive hand around Adam's waist did I snap out of my trance. He glared down at me, I could only see one of his eyes through the mop of hair as he tugged restlessly at the stud on his bottom lip with his teeth.

“Ryan,” I greeted meekly, rocking awkwardly on my heels.

He didn't say anything, just moved his head in acknowledgement. Ryan really did scare me and strangely I began to thank the holy lord for making me female, for if I was male and Ryan had caught me staring at Adam like that, he would seriously kick my backside into next week.

“Anyway! Liss! I found my next candidate.” I told her, my mood changing yet again in excitement and joy.

“Don't tell me you're still going through with that crazy plan of yours.” Adam muttered.

“Shh, you!” I hissed at him, eyes scanning my surroundings for anyone who could compromise my secret mission. “Keep it on the low-down, will ya?”
