Inferno: A Hunger Games Fanfic

Chapter 3

There are reaping balls on the stage and a giant screen showing Katniss and her family tied up.I can only think one clear thought "what on earth is going on"

It's pretty clear what's going on to be honest.It's starting again. The reaping; the hunger games; the fear. And I doubt they would make any mistakes this time. It feels like there's ice on my back moving up my neck and choking me.I breathe deeply and stare around to see if I can see my mother.

Now the crowd has stopped moving I see her standing on a market stall not too far away.I look into her eyes and see my fear reflected in them except for her it's worse.If I get reaped and die then that's it for me. But my mother would have to deal with a third death.I want to rush to her and tell her it will be fine, she won't lose me too but suddenly peacekeepers appear in every direction.

When we are completely surrounded the view on screen changes and I all but forget about going to my mother. There is a man behind the podium that I have seen snow the old president behind in the old hunger games clips we are shown in school.In the bottom left corner is the veiw of Katniss, Peeta and their children that we saw before. In the top left corner a flashing word tells us it's live.
"Hello Panem," the man says, "I'm sure you are wondering what is happening." Yep and he had better hurry up."I am your new president.President David Tram. Do not try to resist my new leadership.We have gained too much power for it to be in your favour.Our aim is to restore the Panem to its former glory.Travel between disricts will be prohibited. The capitol will run the district's.And of course the hunger games will be reinstated" he pauses probably knowing the reaction these words will have. A few people faint and there id a lot of angry muttering but, with the peacekeepers around, nobody does anything else. "To prove how fully we have control I have imprisoned the "Mockingjay" and her family" the screens swap so President Tram is small and we have a good veiw of the Everdeens. They are attached to the wall with metal shackles.The walls are white tile and so is the floor. They are all sitting down and Katniss looks like if she wasn't confined to a wall she would murder somebody. Acctully, thinking about it, she probably would. Peeta looks like he is trying to be brave but he keeps looking at Katniss and the children as if they could have disapeared into thin air. Both children look terrifed and are as pale as the wall behind them.

Tram clears his throat and begins to speak again."They will see what you see during the games and you will see their reaction.They receive sound from the footage but you cannot hear them." "Probably to stop them giving a speech" I think. "Acctully not all of them will see the games." He pulls out a radio "Fire!" He orders. The children are shot.Blood dyes the tiles crimson and the bodies slump to the floor.There is a gasp in unison from the entire Panem. Peacekeepers enter Katniss and Peeta's cell and remive the bodies.Peeta is screaming and shaking. I think he's having one of his 'mutt attacks'. They are infamous in 12 but rare now. I hadn't ever seen one. I think Katniss is screaming too but she might be trying to call Peeta down.

Someone I The capitol does something to make the screens turn back and its Tram again, telling us the reaping times for tommorrow. We have two in the afternoon. He ends by telling us that district 13 is truly desroyed now and warns us that uprisings will lead to the same fate. To prove it after he is gone there are a couple of minutes of 13 being gassed, the survivors running out only too be shot by peacekeepers. Message understood. The screen goes dark, the peacekeepers go back the barracks and we finally can go back home to bed.But I don't think anyone will get much sleep tonight.

Next chapter soon.Also I promise 13 is destroyed. It will not come back. I might make people hope it comes back but it won't .Ok.
