One/ June

Cherry blossoms sigh with soft plump petals on their heavenly stems, just barely graced with color. The day cannot decide how to be. It is cool but hot, like a child trying to get away with a fever to stay home from school. Sticky grass and chocolaty mud stick to my worn out converse, and dew seeps through the material to my socks and unsuspecting feet.

The wind picks up and I feel it move gracefully and effortlessly through my matted blondish brown hair.

"Damn it June!" I hear from immediately behind me. A hand places itself on my shoulder, and its opposite starts pulling my hair out of its master's mouth. "I was trying to scare you... Goddamned wind" Chuckled Thesa.

She moves her hand around my shoulder and picked up one of the books I hold close to my chest for class.

"Hmmm... To Kill a Mocking Bird?" She pulls her crimson and black hair out of her face. "Hah, I remember that. Really liked it, you probably will too."

Just as the school 15-minutes-or-fuck-your-late-ass bell goes off, some girls in short skirts and tank tops from Thesa's grade walk to us, point and laugh.

"You know you're gonna go to h-" One girl tries to say before Thesa flicks her off while making a sarcastic surprised face. She swiftly places the book between her legs with her free hand, and with the same one, grabs my face at the jaw and pulls me into a cinnamon flavored kiss. I open my eyes as she pulls away and see the girl on the left twitch, and the girl in the center with the too-small tank top scoff and signal to her 3 friends to go.

Thesa has a grin spread across her face, and she teases me with my book, making me reach for it, and I chase her around for a couple seconds before she stops, and just before I crash into her, she wraps her warm, soft arms around me and kind of sags into me solemnly. She pulls away and I see a bright smile pop on her face again as she hands me back my book.

"He-y love birds!" Jensen calls from a ways back. He runs to where we are and puts his arms around both of us.

"So June, what did you get for the last question on the Chem homework last night? I was freaking out..." He asks.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Jenson, you have to remember these things!" I tease.

"Come on!"

"25." I chuckle. His face brightens up.

"Thanks J!" He runs to class, and Thesa heads to her senior homeroom, and I head to Junior.

I start to walk home down the normal route, and Brady is with me. He starts tugging at his shirt.

"Man I don't think I'm wearing this right, and Mom freaked out this morning when I didn't have boobs." He remarked through a frustrated face.

"It will probably take some getting used to. This is your first time wearing it right? I think it looks just fine. I think I hears some girls talking in the hallway about that 'New Brady Guy', so I think you're a hit." I reply. Brady kicks a rock over to my side of the sidewalk, and I kick it back, and so the rock tumbles, back and forth, until I miss it and walk straight over it.

I cross over him and hop over the small stream that runs between the sidewalk and the forestry beside. Sidling between two trees, I then stop and wait for Brady to follow. When I don't see him I peek my head out of the trees and look around.

"Blaaarrrhhhhhah!" Brady screams just in my ear and I jump. I stick my oung out at him and he mirrors my action. We turn to the path.

It hasn't always been there, but Brady and I have been using it since he moved here in 4th Grade, so the "path" is matted down green marsh, leaves and grass. Brady breaks into a run, around the trees and under branches, and I take off after him. Brady is basically my brother. He has lived next door for 8 years and we practically grew up together. We came out to each other, we are going to graduate together, hell, we're probably going to the same college.

We hop back over the stream on the other side of the forest and are facing our houses.

"See 'ya, geek!" He yells from his door.

"See 'ya loser!" I yell in reply.
