I pull into the driveway from another late night. I enter the house to find all the lights off, as usual. My wife must already be asleep.
It's late and I'm tired so I figure I might as well just go to sleep, too. I don't even bother turning on the lights anymore. I can navigate my way through this house blind. Besides, I don't want to wake my wife.
The bedroom door creaks as it opens and I inch my way to the side of the bed. I feel her embrace me as I wrap my arm around her. I slowly drift to sleep, with the love of my life asleep in my arms.
I slowly begin to wake up when I find my love is not in my arms anymore. She's not even in bed.
I open my eyes all the way. As I turn my head to her side of the bed, I notice dark spots on the bed. My hand slowly gets close to one of the spots. I touch it and it feels dry and crusty. I then realize, that it's blood.
Panicking, I took to the floor to see dried, bloody footprints. There were drops of blood leading out of the room.
As I approach the door, I take one last look behind me. I take one last look at my once beautiful wife, now sliced open and mutilated; nailed to the wall behind my bed.
There to the left, were words written in blood. Her blood.
"Thanks for holding me, but maybe next time you should turn on the light when you come in"
