d: hey lovie
L: hey
d: why are eating disorders and the constant want of being skinny disgusting?
L: they're not disgusting. people just don't understand nor have they had someone close to them who struggles with it. it's not disgusting, making fun of someone for it is.
d: understood: but in English class we are working on mental health. N--- found a video on BDD (body dysmorphic disorder) and some how, these people seeking out plastic surgery and starvation to become what they can finally see as perfection is grotesque.
L: it's a disorder d--. Yeah, to someone who doesn't struggle with it, it seems illogical but it's really not. i mean think about it this way:
a 15 year old guy wants to be a football start but he knows that with his height, muscle mass and overall build, no amount of working out will get him to be a ripped football star. So he takes steroids to look like the guys on his football team. it's the same concept but no one sees it like that.d: that makes a lot of sense
it's just frustrating that people think the way they doL: i know love, we just have to push through it
d: i guess so
