Everyone always says that when High School is over you and your friends start to drift apart. But with our group it's the exact opposite.
My name is Alyssa and you could say that me and my seven best friends are some of the luckiest people in the world, I sure like to think so. No matter where our lives take us we're always together and it's been like that for so long I can't imagine any differently.
First up is Amanda, she's quiet at first but as soon as she gets used to someone, she never stops talking. She's sarcastic and sometimes short tempered but she's one of the sweetest and kindest people on this earth.
Second is Anika, she's the kind of friend that always has your back. No matter what but don't get me wrong she has no problem calling you out if you're doing something she doesn't like. She's kind hearted and smart, and she's utterly beautiful even though she can't see it herself.
After Anika there's Tyler, he's the nerdiest out of the group, which isn't a bad thing. He has this way of brightening up a room any time he enters, and you can't help but be completely happy around him. He always knows when someone is sad and he can always cheer them up. Tyler was my first love, I fell for him almost completely and to me everything about him is perfect, like how when he smiles it's only ever a half smile, or the way his brown eyes light up when he laughs.. I could go on forever about him.
Up next is Samantha, we all call her Pikachu. She's kinda and amazing and I honestly don't remember her ever being mean intentionally or accidentally being mean to anyone no matter the circumstances. She's also unnaturally beautiful on the out side.
Then there's Lukas. He's the one who technically brought us all together, but I'll explain that later. Lukas is also kind and smart and extremely sarcastic like I can't even discribe it.
Then there's Nick and Shay they were technically the last to join our group.
Nick is really really smart almost unnaturally smart. He's also pretty temperamental, he gets mad pretty easily and you really don't want him to get mad at you.
Shay, being twenty four, is the oldest of our group and as such acts kinda like a group mom. She's always looking out for everyone, and she puts everyone's needs before her own.
We have our problems but we're a family. The best damn family I've ever seen. Each one of us brings something important to the group and without each other we'd have nothing.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey Lyssa." Manda calls as she climbs over the fence that boarders the most amazing, yet unknown, hang out spot in the small town of Serenity Lake. After me, Amanda, Samantha, Lukas, Shay, Anika, and Tyler found the secluded creek, which runs under an old rail road bridge, we kind of adopted it as our spot and have been meeting here almost everyday for two years.
"Hey chiki, what's the plan for today?" I ask as I watch Manda try not to fall while crossing the thin concrete slab along the base of the bridge.
"Pikachu wanted to tell everyone about an old school bus she found" she huffs while jumping to a rock in the creek where she always sits. "Everyone else is behind me FYI " as soon as the words I hear the sound of someone falling off the fence with a very painful sounding thud. "That's probably Lukas." She says without any indication of worry.
"Probably" I laugh. Lukas is my oldest friend, we've known each other since first grade, and without him I wouldn't know any of the group. Some of us met through him and some of us met through people we knew because of him.
"Okay can we cut the fence or something? Cause fuck I hate having to climb it!" Lukas yells.
"You've asked that almost everyday for a year Luke" Samantha calls from the top of the fence
"You know we cant." Tyler continues
"If we cut the fence we run the risk of being caught here." Samantha breathes as she jumps down
"..couldn't find a legal hang out spot" Lukas mumbles as he sits down beside me and Manda, which cause us to laugh. "Spend all day here again I see. How do you get over the fence with all that I swear it's hard enough without a bunch of shit" Lukas gestures to my sketch book and colored pencils.
"What can I say this place inspires me. And it's really not that hard you just dont do it right." I laugh
One by one everyone gets over the fence and joins the group. Everyone seems really excited about Samantha news.
The thing is, we've been planning this giant cross country road trip since we were all fifteen and all we need is a vehicle that can comfortably fit us all, it's a lot harder to find than you'd think. All of us have been saving for this trip since we came up with the idea and we figure we gave enough money for food gas, and occasionally a hotel room, if we don't spend over $45,000 on a car.
"I found this old school bus, it's been converted into a tour bus thing and the dude who's selling it wants $20,000 for it upfront." Samantha beams.
"Breh that'd leave us with $25,000 for a backup fund!" Anika almost yells
"I say let's do it I need to get out of town soon or I'm going to literally die" Tyler says calmly
"Might as well" Amanda, Nick, and Lukas say in almost perfect unison. Everyone looks at me and Shay, and we look at each other.
"Does it run well?" Shay asks.
"I checked it out yesterday and it runs perfectly fine." I look at shay to see her reaction, and nod when she looks at me.
"I'm guess we have our bus." Shay sighs.
~~~~~~In less than two days we had our bus and we're finishing packing. I don't know about everyone else but to me it seemed like my life was finally beginning and I was finally doing something worth it.
I don't know what will happen on this trip but I can almost garentee that this will be one hell of a road trip.
