"Sweetie, wake up," I whispered to Sky as we came close to Jersey. I felt bad for waking her, because she hardly got any sleep on the entire five-and-a-half hour flight.

She lifted her head from her previous position of sleeping my shoulder as she let her eyes adjust to being awake.

"Sorry I fell asleep on you," she muttered.

"No, it's okay, honey. I like when you sleep on me. I like being close to you, whether you're awake or not. I only woke you up to let you know we're almost to Jersey. If we weren't, I would have let you sleep on me as long as you wanted."

"Aw, babe. You're so sweet," she remarked, then she kissed my cheek. "Wait, I just realized something."

"What'd you realize, baby?"

"I need to pay you. I can't let you pay for my plane ticket and the hotel room. That shit's expensive. I'll at least pay you for my plane ticket."

"Sky, you don't have to pay for anything. Don't worry about it. This is the least I could do."

"I can't let you pay for everything. That's just not right. I'm eighteen now. You shouldn't have to keep buying shit for me."

"I don't have to buy shit for you. I want to, because I love you, and you're the main reason I decided to man up and face my parents, so you deserve a reward. Now stop complaining. We're on vacation until I have to face my parents," I joked. She huffed, but she finally complied.

About ten minutes passed, and now the plane was landing. I looked over at Sky, and I noticed how sad she looked now.

"Baby, what's wrong? Did you not wanna go on vacation?"

"N-no it's not that at all. It's just..." she trailed off. "It's nothing. Don't worry."

"Sky, please tell me what's wrong. I don't like it when you're sad. I want my lady to be happy. I can't make you happy if you won't tell me what's wrong, though."

"It's just... Airplanes remind me of my parents. The only times I was ever on a plane were the rare times I was allowed to go on the business trips with my parents. So I'm just remembering that, I guess."

I intertwined my fingers with hers and I kissed her. "That's really sad. I'm sorry baby."

She shrugged. "It's okay. I'm sure I'll make new, amazing memories on this vacation with you, because I love you."

"I'm gonna try to make it memorable. The first few days are all ours, then I'll see my parents somewhere in the middle, then we'll have a few more days to ourselves. That way, I can make it as memorable as possible."

"Sounds great, babe," she said, then we grabbed our carry-on bags, because it was time for us to exit the plane. Once we made it to the luggage carousel, it took a while for our bags to get there, but we eventually got them. Now I can show Sky where I grew up.

We finally arrived in New Jersey! I was so excited to finally be on vacation with Gerard.

I read the sign near the front of the airport, and it said "Newark Liberty International Airport." At least now I knew what city we were in.

"I'm gonna get us a rental car, even though Belleville is only like four miles from here, because I don't think we wanna walk four miles with all this luggage," Gerard explained. I nodded, and began to space out as he went through the process of getting a rental car.
