An Interesting Escape

The group escorted the twins to where we were sleeping, making them sit directly in front of us.

‘Well as you know we got locked in the library,’ Candy started.

‘I’d never been in the library before so we started to have a look around, mainly to see if there was any food or water,’ Continuum continued.

‘There wasn’t any that we could find so we curled up in some chairs to sleep, but it was too cold.  Everywhere else was warm but the spot we chose to sleep in was suspiciously cool. Eventually I realised I wasn’t going to get any sleep so started to try and find out why it was so cold. I didn’t find anything, except a book that I wanted to read. Except it was painted onto a wall, there wasn’t actually a book,’ Candy explained and Continuum nodded.

‘At this point she’d screamed my name,’ Continuum added, ‘we found that a panel of that wall contained nothing: no bookshelves or books. One of the books, however, was a mechanism that, when pushed, popped out as a door handle,’

‘It leads into the main corridor of the Super Enrichment Programme. We started to run out but the Peasant Miners blocked the staircase. That’s when we back tracked to find you guys and take you with us,’ Candy grinned at us.

‘We need you all to fight through the Miners,’ Continuum admitted, a blush flushing his face.

‘Everyone get your stuff!’ I yelled, ‘Our chance to fight back at the Miners is here,’ I called as everyone scattered to find their things.

Just as everyone was about to leave Luca called us back.

‘What about willow?’ She questioned and I mentally punched myself for forgetting her.

‘Mr LEE! A word please,’ I called, beckoning him over to the computer.

‘What?’ he asked.

‘We need to get Willow out before we go, so I need your help,’ I patiently explained.

‘But I’ve tried loads already, it doesn’t work,’ he tried to reason.

‘I know, but I just had an idea that might work. Hack the network and type in ‘Harry Potter’,’ I commanded and watched as Mr Lee did as I’d said.

After he’d typed in the extra words there was a pause that felt like it lasted an hour before green lights flashed around the controls centre and a cheer echoed through the rooms as the steel doors started to rise.

I ran with Luca through the now open dormitory to see a very weak looking Willow stagger towards us.

We grabbed her arms and pulled her along, explaining everything as we re-joined the rest of the group.

Everyone made their way through the halls of the main part of the campus until we were stood around the corner form the Miners.

‘Luca, turn us all invisible, but let everyone take their shoes off first,’ I looked around at their confused faces.

‘It’ll make us quieter, we don’t have to fight them,’ I explained and everyone nodded, ‘If we have to fight, use the same plan as when we ambushed Candy and Continuum,  but allow Continuum to try and move them out of our way,’

Everyone nodded and I took and deep breath before taking a step towards freedom for the first time in 3 days.
