Lana's POV

I woke early in the morning, surprised that I was able to fall asleep last night.

Before checking on our strange guest, I hopped in the shower and doused my body in as much scented shampoo that I could endure.

Afterwards, I pulled on some jean shorts and a white tank top. I really had to stop bursting into a wolf, it was eliminating a lot of my clothing choices. I had to learn how to strip naked before shifting. And man, that wasn't going to be easy.

I walked out to the smell of pancakes, and let my mouth water as I hurried to the kitchen.

Archer, in different clothes, was sitting at the table chowing down his food, while Erick was cooking.

"Ah, Lana. You're taking our guest to Lucinda, correct?" Erick asked smugly.

What was his problem lately? "Yes." I sat next to Archer and grabbed a plate, and piled on the food.

Archer turned on me and half smiled. "My brother left. He said something about his stepmom."

I nodded. "At least he made it back safely."

He nodded, "Hey, sorry for making you come over last night...you know I didn't mean to-."

I kicked him in the leg before he finished, and he caught himself.

"Didn't mean to what?" Erick said with false curiosity.

"That I frightened her, when I came into town." Archer replied plainly.

Erick stared at me. "You better go now. Before she leaves."

I sighed and stood up. "Come on."

I led Archer to Lucinda's house and it wasn't until we reached the steps that he spoke.

"How will we fool her?"

I shrugged. "Let's just wing it."

He shook his head, "You're a strange shifter, you know that?"

I smiled. "Trust me, I know."

We walked in the large doors and up the stairs, then I knocked on Lucinda's door.

"Come in." A shrill voice replied.

We walked in, and I turned to see Archer's reaction to the fact that she was a woman, but he didn't seem fazed.

"Who is this?" Lucinda shot straight up.

It was odd to see why everyone who met Archer acted so strangely.

"Archer. Archer Mason." Archer extended his hand and a tight smile grew on Lucinda's face.

"Oh. Why are you here Archer Mason?" She asked sitting back hesitantly.

We both sat down and Archer told the story of how he arrived, and through the whole thing, Lucinda was biting her lip.

"So you have powers?" Lucinda asked after he was finished.

I nodded. "Of course. He has earth bending like me."

I could see right through Lucinda's fake surprised look. "Well, well, well! Seems like you'd be a perfect fit here!"

Archer smiled. "Thanks."

She smiled, again, tightly. "We will assign you a house immediately, and I would like Lana to train you. Is that alright Lana?"

I nodded. "Perfect. Come on Archer. We can start right now."

Shawn's POV

It wasn't the fact that Lana had slapped me. Or even she denied loving me. I was sick of that town anyways, I was about to leave before she showed up.

But oh, ho, ho. A different pack impacted my plan. Very largely actually.

I would simply warn them about Lana and her powers, since they seemed to have some kind of relationship with her. But I would only give them the information they need in return for acceptance and an exceptionally large amount of money. Yes, it would go completely well.

And all I had to do was find them.

Erick's POV

After I spied Archer and Lana walking towards the forest, I hurried to Lucinda's house.

Why had she not sent him away?

I pushed the door open and Lucinda glanced at me. "I know why you are here Erick. And I had to make a decision, the life of one savior, in return for the freedom of our whole race. It is a small price to pay."

I growled. "You're just going to let this happen? Let Lana die? You can't!"

She gave me a cold glare. "Don't think that I haven't thought about this. It is here destiny, you can't stop the prophecy from happening."

"I don't give a damn what the prophecy says! This is a shifter that will have her life taken unknowingly!"

"And if we told her, and she had a choice, what do you think she would do?!" She yelled.

I fell silent. We both knew she would take the offer and save all of us.

"Exactly. We're doing what she would've done, but with less stress." She rose her eyebrow.

"She has a right to know."

"A right to know that she will die? A right to know that she will be betrayed? I don't think you want to tell her any of that Erick. The prophecy forbids you."

I sighed. As much as I wanted to disagree, she was right that Lana shouldn't know. But that didn't make it alright for Lucinda to set her up like this.

"This isn't right and you know it." I glared at her.

"It's my only choice."

I turned away and bit my lip. "No it's not."

I was about to leave when she spoke up. "Since the prophecy is changing, maybe she might have a chance."
