Behold the Man

17 4 3

Based on the painting Ecce Homos

Kingly robe and crown of thorns
The Savior stands before the throne.
"Ecce Homos" Pilate cries,
The crowd answers with wild eyes
Yelling: Crucify him! Crucify him!

A few in the crowd are completely sure
That the blasphemer could be the cure
To save them from their current plight
And drive the Romans into the night
Shouting: Crucify them! Crucify them!

And from above the Father sees
His Son fall down upon his knees.
Killed for the sins that He lacks,
While God and angels turn their backs
Weeping: Crucify Him. Crucify Him.
