Jack took a sip of the Red Bull on the kitchen counter. "Madison, let's go," he called out. He glanced at the doorway waiting for her to appear, but she didn't.

"You complain about me taking so long to dress, now you are," he joked. Jack mused about her delay.

"Madison?" He called out again. Jack walked towards the bedroom.

"Mad?" He asked outside the closed door.

That's when he heard the sniffling and his heart sank. He knocked on the door before walking in.

"Babe..." he said, his voice softening when he saw her.

Madison was sitting on the bed, in a baggy shirt, wiping tears from her red eyes.

"Babe, come here," Jack coaxed, sitting next to her.

She slid into his arms and Jack rubbed her back slowly.

"What's wrong baby?"

"People just keep on hating on me. I feel like it never stops," she sobbed into his chest.

Jack felt more of her tears soak through his shirt. It broke his heart to see her like this. Usually, her girl was so strong. But she had her days when she cried.

He gave a kiss to her forehead.

"I saw some mean comments and I tried not to think about it. But it just got to me," she breathed, turning her head to the side to play with his shirt.

"You're okay," Jack assured her, tightening his arms around her.

"I'm sorry I ruined your day with my mess," she whispered.

"You didn't. Don't ever think you would ruin my day with your problems. Your problems are mine. Let me see your face Madison," he demanded, pulling away to cup her cheeks.

Her face was streaked with tears. Jack didn't know how she managed to still look so beautiful. All he knew was how lucky he was to call her his girlfriend.

"Madison," he whispered her name reverently before giving her a peck on her lips, still salty from her tears.

Jack gazed into her eyes to show that he was being genuine. "Whatever was said, it's not true. You're amazing, talented, and so beautiful. I love you," he said, placing a strand of hair behind her ear.

His words seemed to assuage her and he smiled. Jack didn't want to be anywhere else but by her side, easing her pain.

She relaxed and gave a tight-lipped smile back. Madison looked down at his shirt wet with tears. "Your shirt," she said, skimming her fingers over the damp shirt.

"It's fine. Now I have an excuse to take my shirt off," he said, giving her a smirk, teasing her.

"Like you need an excuse to do that," she said with a smile.

"You're right," Jack joked around. He was glad she was feeling better.

Jack pulled her up on to their feet.

"Still want to go out for dinner?" He asked.

"Yeah, let me go wash my face," she pointed towards the bathroom.

"Jack?"

"Yeah babe?" He said giving her a small smile.

She held on to his shoulders to kiss his cheek. "Thank you," she said.

Jack tilted his head down to kiss the soft skin of her exposed shoulder as a response to her gratitude. Madison smelled amazing– a combination of her body wash and her own unique scent.

She pulled away from his arms. "We are going to be late," she said laughing.

"Dinner can wait," he said teasing her.

Instead of answering, Madison leaned forward until her lips met his.

She slowly pulled away until they were inches apart. "I love you, Jack," she whispered the words on his lips.
