1321 Corner Road. How did I not remember that address? I stood on the front lawn of the tiny, blue house. The house I had lived in before I was abandoned. I cautiously walked up the porch stairs, and knocked on the door.

"Come in," I heard the women say. I hesitated before turning the doorknob, and stepping in. I looked around. Everything seemed just as it was when I left.

I looked over to see an older women rocking in the recliner, knitting a scarf. I'm guessing she was the one that I talked to on the phone, because there seemed to be nobody else here.

"H-hello," I said nervously. The women looked up at me. Something was oddly familiar about her.

"Welcome home,"  she said as she went back to knitting.

"How do you know I used to live here?" I asked, still not moving out of the doorway.

"Come. Sit," She pointed to the couch to her left. I slowly walked over, and sat down, causing a bunch of dust to fly into the air, "You've grown into such a beautiful young lady." I was so confused and uncomfortable.

"Thanks?" The women fondled with a chain that was around her neck, as the silence grew more eerie. I caught a glimpse of a heart shaped locket that was attached to her necklace. Suddenly, I remembered.

"I'm sorry. Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!!" My mom said after she backhanded me in the alley, "Look at me sweety. Mommy will be back. When you're old enough to understand," she sobbed, "See this locket? Mommy will always wear this locket, so when we meet again, you'll know it's me. I love you, sunshine"

Reality hit me in the face. I looked up at the women sitting next to me. Her hair was turning gray, and she had wrinkles under her brown eyes. "Mom?" I questioned in a shaky voice?

"Yes. Yes. It's me," she said as tears filled her eyes.
