Chapter 21: Opening the Portal

Aphmau: Guards! Anyone?

I screamed the wall gate. A guard opened the gate.

Aphmau: Oh thank Irene! Is everyone okay?

Guard: Yes. Everyone is fine.

I ran to were Levin and Malachi were staying at and hugged them.

Aphmau: Are you two okay?

Levin: We're fine, mom. Don't worry about us. No one was badly injured.

I hugged them again and kissed them both on the forehead. I checked for everyone who got attacked. Luckily, no one was badly hurt. Logan got shot with an arrow, which thankfully, was not enchanted. After I healed his wound I went over to Aaron.

Aphmau: Hey, um, Aaron.

Aaron: Lady Aphmau. Are you alright?

Aphmau: Yeah. We went to help the people of Meteli since the Tu'lans had taken over the place. From what I heard, everyone was alright here.

Aaron: Yeah. Except for what happened to... Travis.

I has almost forgot. I ran to the docks to were Travis had gotten shot.

Aphmau: No.. Travis...

It was a magic arrow. I cried looking at him, but I didn't have much time to mourn.

"Nya!" Michi jumped me from behind. He held me against the ground.

Aphmau: Let go of me!

Michi: No! Nya!

TWHUP!

Someone hit her head with a rock. It was Sasha.

Aphmau: Sasha?

Sasha: The Meiw'fa made a hole in the prison wall.

She put her hand in front of me in means to help me get up. Why was she being nice?

Aphmau: Wait. Why didn't you just help Michi?

Sasha: I told you a few months ago. I'm not that person anymore. I'm want to work with you to destroy Zenix. And I obviously need you alive for that.

Wow. She had really changed. I them felt bad for keeping her in the jail.

Aphmau: Well, thank you.  I'll call a guard to get Michi.

Sasha: And I'll go back to the prison.

A guard carried Michi back the jail. I looked at Travis once more time before I went to look for Laurance. He was in the now finished tower, still in Shadow Knight form.

Aphmau: Laurance...

Laurance: Lady Aphmau. Who are you doing?

Aphmau: I'm good, thanks. Umm, why are you still in the Shadow Knight form?

Laurance: Umm? Oh, I forgot. Vincent said the best way to be able to control it is living in it. He said that it got to a point where you can just get in and out of the form.

He turned back into a human.

Aphmau: Oh, okay. I talked to the others in the settlement and they said they were good.

He had a small chuckle.

Aphmau: What?

Laurance: Why do you call it a settlement?
