(Ryan's perspective)
Aurora took in no notice of anyone else around her except for Maia, even if I was standing right behind her. "What's wrong Aurora?" Mason finally asked, throwing her out of her trance. It seemed like Maia and Aurora were speaking a silent language, from the first moment Maia met Aurora I could tell she counted her as a close friend. "Oh right, I suppose you remember Kia? Correct?" Aurora asked everyone, but in a second or two it seemed clear we had no idea who she was talking about. Aurora sighed, rubbing her forehead for a second before speaking quietly "She's the new Counsellor." I had no idea who she was speaking of, but before anyone could ask anything the doors flew open again. Madison ran down the stairs, her black hair flying behind her. I finally got a good look at her and her face was flushed red, even the tips of her ears. She's been outside. "Where have you been?" Mason demanded as soon as Madison stepped closer. "None of your concern" She spat back. "It is my concern, because I'm your brother." I bit my lip nervously at Mason's reminder, Mason was sometimes too overprotective of his little sister, but I can always understand why. "Really? I didn't notice." Madison snapped sarcastically. I sighed and shoved Mason back gently so he wouldn't have a chance to answer
"Can we please go back to the new Counsellor?" I asked impatiently. "New Counsellor?" Madison raised her brows, her eyes widening. "Of course you wouldn't know, you never decide to show up." I heard Mason's muffled mutter before Bella put a hand over is mouth, before pecking his lips. I turned away with a look of disgust, nodding to Aurora to continue."So, who's the new Counsellor?" Amy asked."Her name is Kia-" Aurora but was cut off by a small squeak. "Kia's the new Counsellor?" Madison snapped angrily. "How would you know her?" Jackson raised a brow, crossing his arms across his chest. "Because she's the one who poisoned me for that stupid punishment! She made me weak!" Madison huffed, crossing her arms with a deadly glare. If looks could kill, everyone would be six feet in the ground. "Oh that was her name." I muttered, sighing and shook my head. I suddenly stopped and stared at Maia with a confused expression who was staring back at me, "What?" I mouthed. She just simply shrugged then turned to Aurora "So, why did you come to tell us this?" She asked the woman. "Because, ever since your uncle was Counsellor," Aurora said, raising a brow at me. "He put these guards up around Irenic, they're invisible of course. But they protect everyone Demonhunter in Irenic, and the children. I over heard Kia speaking to someone, but she's going to bring down the guards, I don't know when but she will. She's going to kill everyone, I need your help." Aurora finished with a small sigh, looking at everyone with pleading eyes.
My uncle should have never been murdered, he was the best guy for the job as Counsellor. I unconsciously brought my hands into fists, I'm not sure if everyone will decline Aurora's favor, but I am certainly not. "I'll go." I broke the silence between everyone, eventually get shocked stares from everyone. I shrugged and left Maia's side to stand beside Aurora, crossing my arms. I felt Maia's eyes burning into my soul, but I refused to look at her, instead I looked at the floor. "I'm going." Madison shrugged, looking at me with a smirk. "I'm going if Madison's going." Mason announced, looking down at Bella. Bella slowly nodded, smiling as she interlocked her fingers with Mason "I think it's clear that everyone's going." She giggled slightly. I nodded, turning to Aurora "When do we leave?" I raised a brow. "Whenever everyone is ready." She smiled before heading upstairs, everyone following her. I started to head up the stairs before feeling a soft hand grab my wrist, making me turn around to face the person. "What are you doing?" She asked, her brows furrowed together. "Doing what I should be doing?" I raised a brow at her, taking in her beautiful structure. I really shouldn't make the decision every time, but I decided for myself this time, not everyone. "And what is that?" She asked a little more harshly. "Find out who killed the last person in my family." I nearly snapped, bringing my wrist of her grasp.
