Chapter 1

The rays of the summer sun shone excelently through the gaps of the trees above. The warmth of of the heat envoloping the earth. It's another perfect day for Ruby to visit her grandmother at CottonWood Valley.

Ruby looked into the mirror as she put on her red cloak. She went into the kitchen and filled her brown basket which is placed on the dining table with a loaf of perfectly baked bread and a pack of ham sandwhitch. She then cover the basket with a clean red and white paterned folded towel.

As she step out of the house, she grabbed her hoodie and covered her short pig-tailed brown hair.

"Morning 'Red Riding Hood'," Ruby's neighbours greeted her the moment she stepped on her porch.

Ruby walked happily down the path of her porch and went pass Jack's garden. There, she found Jack watering his young seedling which he assume to be a magical bean that could take him to the world beyond the clouds but to Ruby and the other villagers, it's just  a funny story that always intertained them.

"Morning Jack. How's your 'magical' beans?"asked Ruby with a cackle as she stopped at the low fence surrounding the garden.

"Shut up. Someday, I'm gonna prove every one wrong. You'll see."replied Jack, rolling his eyes. " Are you going to your nan's again?"

"Yap..she seemed to be sick today."

Jack stood up and headed towards the back door of his house and soon, he was out of Ruby's sight.

Eh, was it something I said?, Ruby questioned herself, wondering why Jack went away without a word or a 'bye'.

Before Ruby continued her journey, Jack called her from behind. He rushed to Ruby and handed her a small knife.

"Before you go, I'm just gonna tell you that if you found a Ginger Bread House on your way to CottonWood Valley, never enter it. And this knife, use it if you're in trouble,"said Jack with a dead serious look.

Frighten, Ruby took the knife and place it under the sandwiches. She nodded her head and continued walking, towards the ChestNut Valley's exit, the village where she lives.

         Clack...Clack

The sound of the dead leaves rustled as they stepped on it at Oak Walk Way. Hansel and his twin sister, Gretel, were happily walking and chatting about what they were going to do once they arrive at their aunt's house at ChestNut Valley.

"Oh boy, I can't wait to get pictures. Look! There's a water fall near Maple Path." said Gretel, pointing her finger on the map they took when they arrive WodWork Island as a summer vacation.

"I bet Aunt Emma will let us explore this island," both of them said at the same time.

An awkward silence filled the air.

"Jinx! You owe me a soda!" said Gretel as quickly as she could before her twin brother could even said a word.

Hansel just stood frozen. He did not see that coming. Hansel looked at his twin sister skipping happily away.

"Wait. There's no soda in WodWork Island remember. Ha! Looks like I won't be buying you one."

"You can still buy me a soda when we got back home right?"

With a grummpy face, Hansel followed Gretel like a duckling following its mother.
