SHIT.
HOLY.
FUCKING.
SHIT.

Time is standing still and all I can hear is my blood thundering around my head. It takes me a couple of moments to realise the fucker is actually talking to me...
"Hello Christian...nice night for a swim."
"H-hello Mr. Lincoln." I stammer out.
"Christian and I were just having a relaxing swim after a busy day exploring," Elena explains hurriedly.
Linc nods, looks briefly across to her then back at me.
FUCK! My trunks are still round my knees!
I'm debating how the hell I'm going to pull them up without standing and revealing myself, when Linc stretches upwards.
"Lovely idea - and if I wasn't so bushed, I'd join you both." He lets out a heavy sigh. "But it's been a long day and I just want a shower and to hit the sack."
"Of course," I breathe.
WAIT! Where's the fucker gonna sleep? I can't have him share the room with me...but that'll mean he shares the double bed with Elena! FUCK!
"I'll see you in the morning," he smiles.
"Umm...yes. Goodnight, sir."
He turns and wanders into the house. Elena gives me a wide-eyed look and hurries after him.
I jump up, dragging my sodden trunks up my legs.
FUCK! FUCK! FUCK! Why the fuck has he come? I thought he was too busy sealing some major deal?
My heart is slamming in my chest as I shakily climb the pool steps - the same steps I was shackled to not ten minutes earlier, as I came violently into Elena's gorgeous mouth...
I stand at the top of the steps and take a deep breath.
Now what the fuck do I do? Stay here? Go inside? Make polite conversation? "So, Mr. Lincoln...good job you didn't get here any earlier..."
Elena suddenly appears at the patio doors.
"You need to move your stuff into my room," she whispers.
I inhale sharply.
"Sorry, that came out wrong. I've explained to Linc you're seeing a shrink as you suffer from night terrors and need to sleep alone. I'll sleep in your bed and Linc's sleeping on the other bed."
Relief floods through me. "What the FUCK is he doing here?" I hiss in panicked annoyance.
"He wrapped his deal up early so he thought rather than going and relaxing at the health spa for a few days, he'd come over and surprise us."
"Oh he would have been very surprised if he arrived twenty minutes ago!"
Elena pales under her tan. "Don't. That's all I can think about."
We arrive in the spare bedroom. Linc's suitcase is lying on the twin bed opposite mine and we can hear him in the adjoining shower.
"Just throw your stuff back in the suitcase for now and take it to my room. I'll have to put some of my stuff in your case too."
"Your stuff?" I ask in confusion.
She lowers her voice despite the fact that Linc can't possibly hear us. "Flogger, cuffs, basque, boots..."
Oh right!
"Looks like our amazing time is over," I sigh sadly as I throw my clothes out of the drawers and into the case. Unseen, Elena comes up behind me, wraps her arms around my waist and presses herself into my bare back.
"Not over, Peachy." She whispers making my skin break out in Goosebumps. "Just postponed."

**********

I stretch sleepily as I feel sunlight play on my face. I smile lazily as my eyelids slide open.
Fuck! Where am I?
My panic subsides as last night's events run through my mind at warp speed.
It wasn't a fucking nightmare then...
I rub my hand roughly over my face. Why couldn't the son-of-a-bitches deal just last a couple more days? This break was meant to be for ME to recuperate, not him! I look angrily down my body, half-covered in a thin cotton sheet.
And what the FUCK am I meant to do with my morning glory now?
I slide warily out of bed and cautiously open the door. I can hear voices coming from the kitchen, so I know they are both up. I head into the bathroom and lock the door.

"Morning Christian! Come and sit down and have a Pastizz."
I gingerly approach the kitchen table, where Linc is pushing a plate over to me.
"My body clock is still on U.S time. I've been up since four this morning! Rather than make a noise in the house, I went for a drive and found a bakery. There's fresh bread or biscuits if you prefer?"
I scrape a chair back against the tiles and sit down. "Good morning Mr. Lincoln...Elena," I begin, trying to sound as normal as possible. "Umm...no the Pastizzi will be fine, thank you."
Elena smiles at me and places a couple of the wonderful flaky pastry treats on my plate and pours me a glass of fresh orange.
"Did you sleep well?" She asks me a little too brightly as she hands them over to me.
"Umm...I got a bit disoriented at first when I woke up, but yes, I think so."
"Elena tells me you aced all your exams this year." Linc begins. "Are you looking at going to college?"
I swallow a large mouthful of cold juice. "Yes...I know that's what my parents would want. Elliot's leaving to study architecture at Cornell soon. They're so proud of him. Well, we all are."
Linc's eyebrows shoot up. "Architecture hey? Well he'll never be out of work. A decent architect is worth his weight in gold. You thinking of going down the same route?"
I shake my head as I swallow a piece of delicious Pastizz. "No, sir...designing isn't really my thing. I'm interested in economics, commerce and business really."
Linc looks over to Elena who smiles proudly at me. "Christian has a very astute head on his young shoulders."
I smile and try not to light up too much at the compliment.
"Well it sounds like Grace and Carrick are certainly raising some exemplary children!" He laughs. "There's a little girl too, if I remember..?"
"Mia," I breathe, my face breaking into a fond smile.
God, I have missed every caring, sweet, annoying inch of her! I'm going to hug her till she can barely breathe when I next see her...
"She must be what...seven, eight now?"
"Eleven. She starts High School soon. Thankfully she's going to an all-girls school, otherwise I'd have to change schools!"
Linc laughs. "Bit of an over-protective older brother are you? That's quite a commendable trait to have. So tell me, what areas of business and economics are you interested in?"

**********

I cannot believe I have spent most of the day talking to that fucker...
I'm sprawled on my front on the double bed, studiously writing down everything Linc has told me throughout the day. Once he started talking he didn't stop - obviously revelling in the role of imparting words of wisdom onto the son of eminent lawyer Carrick Grey. What the egotistical bastard didn't realise whilst he was bragging about his many business deals, is that I was merely pumping him for information. I couldn't give a fuck about how many operations he's involved with. What I wanted to know is what made his brain tick. How had he taken Lincoln Timber from a small family business, to a national and soon to be international company, in a relatively short space of time? 'You have to be ruthless, Christian.' He told me. 'No one gets anywhere in business being nice.'
He clearly doesn't know me at all. I don't do nice. Well...maybe for Mia...and mom...and dad...and even Ell...Okay - maybe I do do nice for my family. And Elena. One day I intend to be rich enough to pay them all back for all their love and faith in me and repay Elena for everything she's ever done for me...
SHIT! Can't think of that now! FOCUS GREY!
I put my pen back on my notepad and continue to write, smiling to myself.
Maybe Linc's arrival here isn't the worst thing in the world. If I can continue to feign interest and boost his ego enough to get him to divulge his trade secrets to me - a young kid who poses no threat to him - maybe one day it won't just be his wife I take from under him...
