I was lost in a far away dream when a wave of coldness washed over my face. I awoke with quite a shock, it was wet and I heard the ocean right away. I sat up quickly and immediately almost fell backwards onto my back. The whiskey from the night before let me know that it wasn't happy about how hard I drank last night.

I buried my face in my hands and let out a deep exhale. Looking up, I observed everything around me. The beach was completely empty, which is weird because it's usually packed. I was on vacation in a paradise resort where the waters were blue and the beauty of the trees were abundant.

It was getting dark and the silence gave me an eerie feeling. Maybe the beach had just closed for the night I thought to myself as I gained the strength to get myself onto my feet. I looked out to the ocean one last time before deciding to make my way off the beach and back to my hotel room. I brought my arm up and looked at my watch, I had about thirty minutes before it got completely dark.

I was getting annoyed because of my throbbing headache and the sand stuck between my toes. As I walked funny trying to reach an arm down and get the sand out of my toes, I noticed that it was definitely strange all around me. This was the busiest part of town and there wasn't a single soul. I kept walking, feeling a wave of uneasy nervousness wash over me. I shook it off and sped up a little bit.

The hotel was a little over three blocks away from where I was. Every single street was lifeless, but I felt like there was a million eyes on me as the daylight faded and everything turned to shadow and mystery. The slight breeze that lightly pushed through the palm trees gave off a soft but frightening rustle, almost like the light breeze before a large storm.

The hotel was almost in sight as I rounded the block to take a quicker route back. The smell of something burning hit my nose as soon as I turned onto the next road. In front of me was a burning car, in both front seats there was clearly two corpses. I froze in place and stared at it in bewilderment. The orange glow stretched across the buildings on both sides of the charred shell of a car. I couldn't see through the smoke to see what was on the other side.

After looking for a few seconds longer, I decided to walk towards the wreckage.

"What the fuck happened here?" I said out loud to myself.

That's when I saw something move, but barely, I wasn't one hundred percent sure. I crouched down to try to see under the smoke. There was definitely something moving, it was making it's way towards me.

"Hello?" I yelled out loud.

There was no response, but the moving object came through the smoke and I quickly realized that it was a person. But something caught my eye right away, the person was burnt from head to toe. Their skin was charcoal black and both of there eyes were grey. I felt my heart turn cold and I started to walk towards the person.

"Sir, were you in the wreckage?" I asked him.

He still wouldn't answer, he just kept walking towards me. I started to take a few steps back as I noticed the extremity of his injuries and how he was still able to move without falling to the ground in pain.

"Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to back up." I said firmly.

The man still didn't listen, he even outstretched an arm towards me. His fingers were contorted and burnt to a crisp, it almost made me sick. I took a couple more steps back and felt my body getting warm because it was getting to the point where I felt like I needed to defend myself.

Before he reached me, I heard something moving fast behind me, it was something running full speed. I spun on my heel only to get bumped into, it was another man, he was running straight at the burnt man.
