There's a reason that Hitler rose to power after World War 1. It's not that he looked the best or sounded the smartest or even that everyone agreed with his ideas. No, it was because he gave a damaged nation hope. He turned people into ruthless savages, selling out their fellow human because he told them it would make their lives better. He controlled an entire nation by giving his people just enough hope. Now I'm not a history buff but I do know one thing. There's this thing about hope. Even the tiniest sliver of it can lead human beings carrying out the most deranged actions you've ever seen.
Hope has the power to give you complete control over someone. It has the power to keep you moving through the most impossible times. And it has the power to utterly tear you apart.
And at this point in my life, I was hopeless. Until him.
