I've never been the popular type. Sure the popular people noticed and talked to me, but I wasn't considered as one of them. Just like every high school we had groups, or as some people call them "cliques".
Was I part of one?
No.
I stood alone. I like it that way. If I like someone, I kept it to myself, not because I didn't have friends to tell, but so it wouldn't be gossiped about.
Did I try getting the guys I liked?
No.
I'd talk to them, but I'm shy. Also the guys didn't like me back. They talked to me, but just to pick on me. They went for the "cuter" girls. a.k.a. Tori Layne, Amber Brown, and last but not least Brittni McKirt. We weren't friends. Just acquaintances.
I'm Josephine Ray, but call me Joey.
I'm an outcast.

Beep! Beep! Beep! My alarm clock sounded the beginning of a new school day. I rushed out of bed knowing if I didn't hurry my brother would leave without me. I pulled a silver sequined top over my head to clash with my blue skinny jeans. I ran up out my door to the bathroom to brush my hair. I don't get how the popular girls can cake their face with makeup and still attract the dumb jocks. Forget it, they weren't interested in the makeup. Everyone knows they only have one thing on their mind... I bet if Brittni swallowed all the makeup she wore she might become pretty on the inside.
"Joey! It's time to go! I have to pick up Kyle!" My brother, Luke, yelled from downstairs.
Who's Kyle?
"Joey, why can't you ride the bus to school? You take forever!"
"Luke, why can't you wear matching clean clothes instead of something you found on your floor?" I asked as I popped some toast into the toaster.
I glanced over at him as he rolled his eyes at what I had said.
"Keep rolling your eyes maybe you'll find a brain back there."
"Alright children stop the arguing and go to school!" My mom yelled as she ran down the stairs.
"Yeah Joey, we need to go." My brother said, an evil smirk placed on his face.
See what I have to live with?
I pulled my brown hair into a messy bun as we pulled up to a nice brick house. I'm guessing it was Kyle's. A big guy ran out as I scooted to the middle seat of Luke's truck.
"He's new and doesn't know anyone. His parents graduated with mom. We need him for the football team so please don't try to befriend him. Football players are jerks." Luke said.
I looked over at him.
He chuckled. "Besides me that is."
I smiled as the large boy made his way to the passenger seat. "I didn't know you had a.." He trailed off as he turned and actually acknowledged my presence.
"Oh, hi"
"Hello." I replied.
The rest of the ride to school was spent with Kyle and Luke talking about football. I was full on interested with the subject, but strongly kept my opinions to myself.
As we arrived at school I noticed how it looked like everyone was a couple. How everyone was falling in love and dating and I'm just sitting here like "Yeah, that's a nice tree. I really like that tree..."
