Chapter 1 Memories of time

*6 years old*

Zero and I were lying on the hay inside a farmhouse. It was a sunny afternoon and the light peeked through the holes in the roof making the room illuminated. Even if it was dimness it was a peaceful environment.

"Ne Zero..?" I asked looking up at the roof

"hmm?" zero hummed

"Will we be friends forever like we are today?" I turned my gaze towards Zero

"Of course!" Zero grinned and took my hand in his "We'll stay best friends forever"

I looked at Zero and smiled with my eyes closed and nodded

*8 years old*

I looked down at my bruised knee and frowned.

Zero came running and sat down beside me "What happened?" he asked with furrowed eyebrows

"I fell" I replied trying to hold back my tears

Zero thought for a while and then took out a napkin and bandaged my knee with it.

Zero took me on his back and stood up "Let's get you back home"

"Thank you Zero" I whispered to him

"It's okay. Friends help each other in time of need. When you get hurt I'll help you and when I get hurt you'll help me. Right?" Zero walked

"Right!" I grinned

*12 years old*

A vampire attacked our home. Blood everywhere... I was so scared...

Zero's parents and his twin brother Ichiro got killed as I was told.

A pure blood vampire. What is a pure blood vampire? It was the one who murdered those souls

It was a snowy night more cold than any night I'd had experienced. I ran to Zero in search of him and found him sitting by a cupboard in front of the corpses of his parents.

It was a dreaded scene. The very first time I got scared of vampires...

"Zero are you okay?" I ran up to him and sat next to him. My eyes went wide as I saw blood dripping down his neck "Your bleeding" I tried to touch Zero's wound but he shoved my hand away "Don't touch me!"

"Zero..." I trailed off shocked at his reaction

He clutched his head "We should have never been friends"

I looked at Zero as tears threatened to spill out of my eyes any moment "No don't say that..." I shook my head

"Don't ever come near me! I hate you!" Zero knew something about me that was still unheard by my ears and what he said next changed me forever "You smell just like them. You are a vampire! (Name) how could you lie to me?"

"I.I didn't know I was a vampire!" I shuttered but Zero's rage was out of control

"It's your fault! It's your fault my parents are dead! It's your fault Ichiro is gone! It's your entire fault! It all happened because of you!" Zero kept hurting me with harsh words and tears finally spilled through my eyes.

I got up but fell again my knees gave way. I was weak! Pathetic! Worst friend in the whole entire world. I cleared my tears but they kept spilling out. I stood up but once again gravity pushed me down. The third and the last time I stood up and ran towards the door. I glanced back to Zero who was crouched in the dark "Good bye Zero..." those were the last words before I parted from Zero Forever...

*16 years old*

(Present)

It has been 4 years since all that happened, since I left Zero, the moment I realized I was a vampire and not just any vampire A pureblood. The rarest species who's blood was the most pure of any other vampires. The ones who could turn other living souls into their own kind.

I glanced at the clock, everything was packed. I was going to leave for Cross Academy. I walked up to the gates with my luggage which was not much. I looked around the massive academy it was huge and special. Why? Because it had both vampires and humans studying together.

They were separated from night and day class. Day class students didn't knew about the vampires because it would cause a chaos among the students. They thought vampires didn't even exist.

I walked inside the academy gates and sooner or later I found myself in the office of the head master called Kien Cross

"So you're the new transfer student for the night class?" the headmaster asked

"Yes" I nodded

And after that he explained me about all the academy and its rules and other stuff. He also told me that there was another pure blood at this academy known as Kaname Kuran.

"Well that's about it. Kaname will escort you to your dorm room and make further arrangements for you" and with that said Kaname walked inside the office

"Ms (Last Name) Please come with me" Kaname gave a warm smile and opened the door for me to leave.

Good manners for a pure blood. I walked outside and he walked beside me. He was really tall and his white uniform really showed more of his features.

"I see you're a pure blood as well" Kaname asked while walking

"Yes but I wouldn't want that to change the fact that I'm just like any other student and get treated differently" I said looking at the windows looking outside.

"Understood" Kaname replied his lips curved into a small smile

It was almost time and we reached the dorm rooms. Everyone was asleep. Well it was normal they had classes at night and needed sleep too.

I was showed my room and told that I would get my uniform shortly.

"Do get some sleep. You'll have classes soon" Kaname told me and I nodded.

I shut the door of my room and relaxed. It was a new academy, new memories, new start.

It was best place to be away from all the pain.

Well at least good enough until all went bad...
