It had been a restless night for Yao, a man who usually could sleep through a thunderstorm if he really wanted to. He tossed and turned all night, never being able to fall asleep for over ten minutes. Maybe it was heat that created sweat droplets on his forehead, plastering his long hair to it. Maybe it was the fact that he was forced to sleep with one leg under his blanket and the other one out of it, which he hated doing . Or maybe, just maybe it was the slightly snoring body next to him, belonging to Kiku Honda...
Whatever the reason, when morning rolled around, and sunlight fluttered into the glass stained window of Yao's house, Yao was as cranky as ever. Dark circles hung under his half opened eyes, and his eyebrows where creased into an irritable frown.
Kiku, having the rare talent of reading atmospheres, quickly caught on. So as the two awkwardly shoveled their morning meals down their throats -elegantly, mind you- the tension in the air remained thick.
Kiku shifted slightly when Yao blankly stared at him, slightly confused because of his absence of words, but the younger man didn't notice, as he was too busy racking his brain for simple conversation starters.
"Soooo...it is hot. Outside. And Inside," Kiku muttered, pointing out the obvious.
Fortunately it was enough to strike a conversation with the older man.
