Updating Attitudes And The Rock'N'Roll Sci-Fi Revolution

Today, I'd like to start by saying thank you to everyone who has shown me support in my journey so far. Whether you've already purchased one of my books or you're reading my blog for the first time today, all of you are playing a part in making my dreams come true.

So, with that in mind, I have been busy working on giving something more back to you all. Step one is free sample chapters of my novels, which are going to be available over the coming week.

Citizen Class 5 already has the first three chapters available through; 'goodreads' and 'wattpad', and as a bonus, chapter two comes with the art work from the back cover.

'Digital Wax' and 'The Fifth Descendant' will also have the first three chapters available (with cover art) over the coming days.

Not enough for some of you? Well, I think I can manage a little more. My Birthday is on the second of August and, all things being equal, I'll be celebrating by giving away my latest novella. I won't give away anything more than that, other than it's going to be the story I mentioned in my June 9th blog; 'Does Writing About God Count As Science-Fiction?'

Now, to the rock'n'roll sci-fi revolution. When I was growing up British comedy exploded with a load of fresh talent and a new outlook. For the first time, our stadium venues which had previously only ever housed sporting events or music, had headlining comedians.

I found it inspiring at the time, as though my generation had reached out to put our stamp on an already proud cultural heritage. After many decades of success for British comedians, a group of young Brits managed to make the bar their own. Our tabloids dubbed it; The rock'n'roll comedy revolution.

Anyway, I'm talking about this because it inspired me. My passion has always been to write but I wanted to take that spirit and apply it to my own works. In all of my novels, I try to incorporate themes which are relevant to the culture and attitudes of today. Though I love much of the works of the science-fiction greats such as Asimov and Clarke, they are from a culture which no longer reflects that of the modern day and since their works will likely never be bettered, it's time for us young-bloods to move on.

So that's my ambition. To start a revolution in sci-fi and explore how the people of today might meet the future of tomorrow, not just what the future of tomorrow might look like.

Thank you again to everyone who is helping to put some wind in my sails. No matter how good the sailor, a still breeze will take a man nowhere.

Endlessly, Perpetually, Something,

L-J
