"Today we attempt something, that mankind has never before attempted in their history. Gentlemen, I present to you, the first military android to be used for an on field mission, NS-8050, more popularly known as Bill," the General unveiled the android as he announced this. Bill looked completely human, as expected. An applause followed. It wasn't too loud, as it only consisted of a select few people, who were in the highest ranks of government and military. He further continued, "This has only been possible because of our military research department, who solved all the problems arising in creation of military androids, at a lightening speed," saying so the General paused, as the esteemed audience applauded for the research department.
"The first problem, what rules must he follow? We came to an agreement that the following rules must be best for today's mission. First, complete the mission. Second, Return to pod 8050 after completion of the mission. Third, Protect the Genotroops. Fourth, Follow the orders of General Link. The rules can be changed for every mission. I will not go into long details about how these rules were set. But there have been controversies about the second rule. That rule is set, so that NS-8050 does not get left behind on enemy soil. In which case his designs might be stolen. And we lose the upper hand in this war.
"One of the biggest obstacles we faced was 'the battery problem'. The research team seems to have overcome this problem.
"If today's mission is completed successfully, it will sound the horns that declare the end of war. The communication channels of the enemy will be completely annihilated. The mission will be led by General Link. He will provide Bill the much needed human guidance, where his years of on field experience will prove to be invaluable. Let me assure you gentlemen, General Link is the best soldier I have seen in my entire career. I don't need to say more, as the tales of his will, skill and bravery are already well known."
Another applause broke out, as I smiled at the praise just levied on me.
The General continued,"This is one of the most complicated missions we have faced in this war. Though the end goal is simple, destroy enemy base 5. It is like a lake that looks placid on the surface but has the most dangerous undercurrents. Air raid will be useless because of the anti air units. A direct assault will extend the war by a long time. So an infiltration mission is the only option left.
"So here we are gentlemen. I leave the fate of this war in the capable hands of General Link and the very first military android, Bill. Today, comrades, is the end of war.
"Today is history."
