-Kate's Pov-
The loud music was throbbing through my veins. It was tempting to dance, but being a waitress and all, it was forbidden. Well... until our shift is over that is. Which by the way, it’s the end of my shift! But right now wasn't the time to celebrate yet.
With an angry scowl on my face, I walked back to Mike; the bartender at the club. When Mike saw me, he started laughing uncontrollably. Seriously?! He was laughing so hard that his body was shaking as well. I was so angry that all I see was red. After what seems like a millennium, he TRIED to calm down.
"What's the pick up line this time?" he choked out between laughs while serving a light bud to a blond girl in front of him. Sitting on the stool beside the girl, I mocked my previous 'customer' "Hey baby, you must be a light switch, cause every time I see you, you turn me on!” Every customer I had, had always tried to get into my pants. Which explains my irritation.
Mike burst out laughing again, but this time he wasn't alone. That stupid blond hair girl was laughing along with him. Like come on! Spare me on this miserable night! This type of stuff isn’t a joking matter. it’s quite serious! Don't get me wrong, Mike is handsome and all with his blond hair, dark brown eyes and very muscular, but at times he’s just a douchebag.
He walked away finally hearing his customers’ complaints. "Man, I want to work here just to hear those cheesy pick up lines again!" the blond girl squealed. Guessing she just came here because she wasn’t slurring yet. I chuckled.
"Trust me, you will regret it." I said. My voice was low when I said, "you will regret it". The girl’s eyes widen in horror. But I covered it up with a teasing smile. A fake teasing smile that is. The blond girl’s face softened. I turned my head to the right to refrain from laughing. My acting just keep getting better and better.
"The name's Chrissy Love" a girl's voice, which now I recognized to well, spoke out. I turned back to her and saw that she was smiling. It wasn't a fake or a annoyed smile, it was a genuine smile and I guess that’s what shocked me. Getting back to reality, I returned the smile. "Katherine Hierette" I said with my right hand out for her to shake. She gracefully took my hand and shook it firmly.
"Not planning to drink that?" I asked nodding to the unopened light bud on the table. Chrissy looked down shamefully. "I-I-I never drank alcohol before. So I'm planning to try some right now. But I'm afraid…" She hesitated. My eyes widen and I swear my mouth was touching the ground! She… never had any alcohol?!
Recovering from my rude expression, I coughed awkwardly. "Um. Want me to drink with you then?" I asked. Chrissy brightened up. "Alright!" she beamed. I laughed. "You're just too cute!" I cued, pitching her cheeks. She slapped my hand away annoyed, but had a small smile on her face.
One drink, two drinks, three drinks. Chrissy and I were dancing with random people on the dance floor. I wasn't exactly drunk, but Chrissy was. I couldn't put my self to be drunk, it just feels like I should protect Chrissy from these people, it's weird but I think I made a friend. In a blink of an eye, the arms around my waist were gone, and I was pulled off the dance floor. I tried to escape out of their tight grip but it was no use.
I might not be drunk, but I was a bit tipsy enough to not recognize the familiar person that is dragging me. Their hand felt huge around my tiny arm so my guess was that it was a guy. He dragged me out in the back door of the bar and outside where the breeze was light blowing through my black long wavy hair. When we stopped, I pulled out from his grip.
There stood my adopted parents and the guy that pulled me out here that I now recognized; Luke. All of them with disapproving looks. Shit.
"Katherine, how dare you disobey our words?! We are all disappointed in you, young lady!" Claire a.k.a my adopted mother screamed. Instead of saying anything, I rolled my eyes. "We don't want to do this but you leave us no choice! Katherine White you will be living with another family that is stupid enough to want you!" my adopted father, Harry screamed.
I flinched at his words. Looking at Luke for help, his eyes was mixed with anger, sadness and disappointment. My stepbrother couldn't help me out this time. Shutting my eyes tight. "I'm not a White. I will forever be a Hierette,” I mumbled.
"Dame right you are no longer a White!" Harry added in. "The papers are done. Let's go home so we can finish this discussion." Claire said. The ride 'home' was awkward. No one dared to speak a word.
Claire and Harry sat in the love seat, Luke leaned on the white wall behind them staring at me, while I sat down on the couch. Facing the White family.
"You will be packing your bags tonight and a car will pick you up tomorrow evening. Everything has been done, so you don't need to do anything else but pack your belongings." Claire explained. "Don't I get a word in this?" I said coldly. "You're actions is speaks louder than words. You’ve got no right to have a say in this." Harry spat out.
"What family am I exactly going to? Or is that a forbidden question until tomorrow?" I returned the tone back. "They claim to know you're real parents well. And wish to have custody of you, because in somewhat reason, you know them" this time Luke said. His eyes weren’t as hard as before because he knows that this subject is very sensitive to me. Even Harry and Claire knew that. And I hated it.
My eyebrows bunched up together in confusion. I don't exactly remember anyone who was connected to my parents. All I know is that I have no other family members to take me in. We stopped staying in contact.
Luke answered my unspoken question.
