We arrive to my apartment and Cameron drops me off giving me a kiss on the cheek. He asked about a million times if I would be okay without him and that he'd come every day to check on me. But I told him not to worry.

I haven't talked much to anyone since the Masquerade ball except for Cam. I've also only replied to one or two text from Ashton. But other than that I've just been the shy girl that everyone knew me for who blended in well and I've avoided Liam as much as possible. So far whatever Cameron or Ashton threatened him with has worked. And I'm glad Cameron and I are best friends and nothing else. He's like the brother I've always wanted except we've kissed. And as for Ashton well I haven't figured out my feelings yet, but I know I want to be with him. I just never know when he's going to explode. He's like a ticking time bomb.

It's December now and that means Winter Formal is this month before we part for our freedom of two weeks. Thanksgiving was great my dad was able to spend it with my mother and I. Cam even came over with his father which was pretty rare as Cameron says.

Life was suddenly getting back to normal.

We're a week away from formal and no one has asked me to be their date for the evening. Cam already asked Meg and she said yes in a heart beat. They really do make a cute couple. They are also now an official thing. Meg doesn't mind Cam being around me after I explained to her everything and how he was there when I needed him. We're all on great terms and today hasn't been such a bad day at school either.

I feel my phone vibrate in my back pocket as I'm walking out the doors and into the parking lot. I see Ashton's name appear on the screen and a sudden breeze sends chills through my body. It's a lot chillier than I remember it was this morning, but what can you expect it's New York.

"Hi." I answer rather smoothly.

"Hey! It's been awhile since I last heard your voice." Ashton says rather happily.

"I know I'm sorry I've been quite busy and really have just been laying low since we last fully talked." I say quite honestly.

"Listen I've been meaning to ask you something. Want to go out and grab some dinner tonight?" He ask as I try to look for him in the parking lot.

"Where are you even? I didn't see you today at school or now in the parking lot." I question as I get into my car.

"I was too sick today to go to school." He says rather unconvincingly.

"Well I hope you get better." I say sincerely.

"Oh trust me. I'll get better once I see you. So is it a yes?" There's the Ashton we all know and love.

"Yes Sutherland. I'll see you at 7?" I say slightly irritated but hardly noticeable.

"7!" He says hanging up the phone.

I drive out of school and decide to stop by Starbucks to kill sometime and grab some coffee for my mum and a tea for myself. My dad had to travel once again, but he'll be here for Christmas break. Which is always exciting having the family all together.
