Falling Love

Lalna was working on making new rails for the roller coaster. He was so busy testing which ones he wanted to use that he hadn’t even noticed Xephos walk in. That was weird of him, since he had such a huge crush on the spaceman and noticed everything he did. Lalna jumped a little when Xephos started talking,
“What-cha working on there, science boy?” Xephos said jokingly.
“Uh, rails for t-the egg roller coaster,” Lalna stuttered nervously, rubbing the back of his neck, “you know how Honeydew wants a super crazy coaster for the eggs.”
“Yeah,” Xephos sighed, he wanted to hang out with Lalna so badly, “you know what? You should take a break and we can go mining! It’s been awhile since you and I have gone out.”
Lalna blushed a little at Xephos’ word choice, ‘gone out’ like dating. “Y-yeah. That would be nice.”
The two of them dropped their extra equipment off in the bottom floor drop box and gathered some supplies. They got many picks, some wood, torches, swords, and lots of food. Who knows how long they would be down there in the mines. Together.
“HONEYDEW!” Xephos called, “LALNA AND I ARE GOING MINING! BECAREFUL, AND IF YOU NEED ANYTHING JUST TALK TO SIPS OR SJIN!”
Lalna and Xephos were worried about leaving the factory with Sips, Sjin, and Honeydew. They knew that Sjin would be the one who would keep everything under control.
Sjin was walking them to the start of the mine to wish them farewell, “It’ll be okay I can keep them both under control!”
With that Xephos and Lalna started down into the mines.
Lalna kept glancing over at Xephos. It had been silent since they had gotten down in the mines. That scared Lalna, is Xeph okay? Lalna kept thinking. While Lalna was glancing at Xephos, Xephos was thinking. What is he doing? Does he suspect me? Does he know why I asked him down here? Does he know I like him? Does he know… Questions swirled around in the spaceman’s head until they were interrupted by Lalna’s scream.
Xephos jumped and turned just in time to see Lalna falling. They had mined into a ravine, but since they were both caught up in thought they didn’t realize. Lalna hadn’t fallen too far it was only a 8-10 block fall, but still it scared the tears out of Lalna. He felt a pain shoot up his leg when he realized he landed on his leg oddly. It didn’t look broken, then again. Xephos called down to Lalna, “Are you okay?”
Lalna stood up holding onto the side of the ravine to help him stand, “Y-yeah, my leg hurts though.”
Xephos immediately started mining a stair way down to his crush. He had heard the tears in Lalna’s voice. He rarely cries unless he can’t find Xephos and gets too worried, or he had gotten hurt. Xephos had gotten down to Lalna who was in tears. He picked the scientist up bridle style, and climbed the stairs back up. The spaceman carried the scientist back to Honeydew Inc.
Sjin was the first to notice them back, and freaked out seeing Lalna hurt and immediately started throwing questions, “Are you okay? What happened? Is your leg okay? Does it hurt? Want me to help? How did it happen? Where did it happe-“ he was cut off by Sips bursting out.
“DID GOGGLE BOY HURT HIS LITTLE LEG?” He said loudly.
Honeydew shouted at Sips, “This is NO laughing matter Sips! Someone is hurt!”
Xephos and Lalna blocked out the trio fighting and yelling. They walked back into the dorms and Xephos laid Lalna down on the correct bed and immediately started wrapping up his leg and giving him medicine.
By then Xephos was in tears, why hadn’t he been paying attention? He could have prevented this. Xephos hadn’t noticed Lalna staring at him with worry.
“Xeph?” Lalna started, “Are you okay?”
Xephos wiped his tears away and chuckled, “I should be asking you that Mr!”
“Xeph? Really? What’s wrong?”
Xephos struggled for a bit before finding his words, “I-I should have been paying attention. I could have warned you or caught you…” Xephos was upsetting himself and couldn’t go on he was crying too hard. He put his head in his hands and curled up next to Lalna.
Lalna sat up and hugged Xephos, the both of them cared so much for each other. One couldn’t stand to see the other cry. He gently lifted Xephos’ face and wiped his tears, and began to speak, “Xeph, it wasn’t your fault. You’re perfect.”
Xephos face got very red. The both of them notice how close they were to each other. Lalna leaned in and softly kissed Xephos. The spaceman accepted the kiss. Xephos pulled away and looked Lalna in the eyes, “I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Xephos hugged Lalna, then got up and laid Lalna down. “You need your rest if your leg is going to get better. I believe it’s broken.”
Lalna sighed at his words. He didn’t want his leg to be broken, but at the same time he did. Now Xephos could take care of him and they would stay side by side. “Will you take care of me?”
Xephos tucked Lalna in and made sure his leg was properly elevated, “Of course I will.” With that Xephos kissed Lalna on the cheek and turned off the lights so the scientist could sleep. Since he promised to take care of Lalna, he pulled up a chair and softly petted his love’s head. He watched as Lalna smiled before drifting off into sleep.
