Josiah laughed as Emily pranced in front of us. The night was cold and dark with the thought of getting caught. We ran faster trying to get to the corner where Crim was waiting for us. The nylon bag was thumping against my back full of what we had gotten this night. I became excited when I saw the familiar light emitting from a cigarette going up towards his mouth.

"Hey guys," he said as he flicked the filter away and got up from where he was leaning against a stop sign. His black hair was shining under the emegency light.

Emily slowed down and grabbed her hoverboard beside the curb. She smiled up at Crim with her white teeth. He smirked back and picked up his own board.

"Hey," I replied as Josiah jumped on his and started flying circles around us. His dark eyes reflected the lights Crim handed me mine. I stepped on and as if on cue we all sped off toward downtown.

Emily was right beside me with her bright red hair flying behind her. Josiah and Crim were behind us laugh at a joke one of them had said. The lights I'm the houses and stores zoomed past with amazing speed. I closed my eyes, feeling the wind blow through my blond hair. The black sweatshirt I had put on before we left was plastered against me.

Eventually we made it downtown. We flew past the main hospital. Our hideout soon came into view. It's dark windows reflected the light from the rest of the buildings and the bricks were covered in vines. We jumped of our hover boards and walked to the rusty metal door. It creaked when Crim opened the door to the small building we called home.

"Welcome back!" screamed Beth. Her silky black hair was wet with the after thoughts of a shower. Her twelve-year old face was radiant with the thought that we were home safe.

"What did ya get?" asked Tyler. He was sitting in his bed playing with some wires.

I threw the nylon bag at him. "Open it and find out."

He set down the wires on the crate beside him and opened the bag. "Five hundred dollars, Two diamond rings, and a"- he pulled each thing out as he said it-"very expensive looking necklace."

Crim held out his hand signaling that he wanted to see the bag and it's contents for himself. Tyler threw it at him making it flip in the air a couple times. He caught it with ease and thumbed through the contents. He then set it off to the side and walked over towards one of the many mini fridges we had stolen from one of the stores at the edge of the city.

"You guys stocked up while we were gone?" he asked Tyler and Beth. Because they were younger than the rest of us, they were in charge of getting the supplies we needed to live.

Beth nodded her head furiously as she walked over to her bed in the corner of the room. I followed her to get to my bed, which was right beside hers. It had a tattered comforter and a stained pillow, but it was mine. I laid down onto the comforter and stared up at the ceiling. There was a single lightbulb hanging from the water-damaged ceiling. This building was built around the 2040's. That was about 70 years ago. I sighed and rolled over to face the wall. It was full of some drawings i had made over the years. They looked amazingly realistic. Well, that's at least what i have been told.

"Hey, don't spill that," I heard Crim say to someone behind me. I smiled and fell into a deep sleep.

......

The sun shone throught the single window above Josiah's couch, where he slept. I squinted my eyes trying to look around the room. everyone was still happily prancing in their dreams. I crossed the room to get myself some breakfast. I balanced the milk in one hand and my bowl and the half eaten Cheerios in the other. I made my cereal and sat down on the folding chair facing the window. My eyes were still adjusting to the light.

"Hey," said Crim's sleep induced voice. He sat backward on the chair across from me. He had some dark stubble on his face.

I nodded because my mouth was now full of food. I shifted in my seat making the chair squeak even louder than before. Crim glanced up at the clock above the cupboard that held the dry foods. It was around 2 p.m. He walked behind me and came back with his own bowl.

"Give me some of that," he said playfully as he grabbed the Cheerios from my left. I set the milk down beside him, knowing that he probably didn't want to eat it dry. He unscrewed the top making his forearm flex.

"Your welcome," I said with a mouthful of cereal, so it sounded like I was speaking German or some other foreign language.

He just laughed when milk squirted across the table top. We ate our breakfast/lunch in silence.

I went to rinse my bowl out when I heard a disturbance outside. "Get down," hissed Crim. He was already on the ground. Josiah must have woken up because he covered the window and shut the light off.

The sound proceeded to make our hearts jump a pace or two every three seconds. We quietly waited o the ground for it to go away. Ot took a good ten minutes before we were sure that the coast was clear. It was pretty lucky that nobody woke up during that time frame. All three of us stood up slowly. Josiah turned the light back on.

"What time is it?"asked Emily as she swing her legs to the side of her hammock. Her soft yellow blanket fell to the floor.

"Two o' clock" said Crim. He was now sitting in his chair finishing off his cereal. Josiah was pouring his own beside him.

She laid back down and went back to sleep with her only blanket still on the floor. I walked over to her and picked up the bright fabric. I gently put it back on top of her and walked over to my bed. Josiah and Crim were chuckling at something apparently amusing. I sat down and grabbed a book from the pile I had beside my pillow. I swung my legs on the bed and started to read, awaiting for another night of stealing.
