Sapphire's POV

When I got home, I ran up to my room and cried. I cried over everything. My past, my present, how Dacey could embarrass me like that, and seeing Colton.

*8 Hours Later*

I must have fallen asleep while I cried, because I was awoken to my doorbell being rung continuesly. I got up from my bed and walked lazily down the stairs. I stopped and looked in the small, round wall mirror, and stared in shock at what I saw. The girl in the mirror had puffy, bloodshot, red eyes; she had a light, pink nose and her pale cheeks were now even more flushed.

I turned away from the unknown girl, and continued down the stairs. Without a care, I opened the door to a crazy looking Colton. He looked, troubled and relieved? I could have sworn I saw guilt flash across his eyes, but it was gone before I could be sure.

"Where were you today and what happened with Dacey?" He asked in a rushed voice.

I shrugged and tried to close the door. I was unsuccessful, because he pulled it right open.

I sighed and put up one finger, to tell him one second. I went into the kitchen and found a notepad. I grabbed a pen and walked back to the front door. I wrote down what had happened and handed Colton the notepad.

He took the paper and read it aloud, "' She embarrassed me, that's all.'"

He looked up at me with sadness, "Why can't you talk?"

I stared at him for a second, dumbfounded. I quickly wrote down my response and handed him the paper; my hand's now shaking.

He read it aloud again, "'I choose not to. No one cares what I have to say anyway.'"

He looked back up at me. A sad glint in his eyes. He came closer to me and brought his hand to my face. Out of reflex, I flinched. He noticed, but didn't stop from touching my face. He brushed my hair out of my face. I just stood there, frozen, but didn't stop him.

He leaned in and crashed his lips against mine. It was a sweet kiss, that ended all too soon. He was the one to break the kiss, and when he did I pouted. He smiled and looked me in the eyes.

"I care." He said with so much honesty, I started to tear up.

I jumped into his arms and hugged him with all I had. He hugged me back and kissed my head.

Under my breath, to where I doubt he could hear me, I whispered, "Thank you."
