One late cool night I was walking alone admiring the absence of people upon me , until I saw him. He was tall , slender, and dressed fully in black, for some reason I was intrigued. His face was soft but with a few chiseled features, pale skin that seemed to glow off from the street light as he passed under and his hair looked dark with some length to it .It made me wonder who else but me would be out at this time of the night walking? It made me wonder what it is he could be thinking. He wasn't that far down the street from me and with every step we took , we were walking closer and closer to one another, as if we had planned this, as if we had known each other . We both didn't stray from the path straight ahead of us , almost as if we were both curious of one another.
Within a few steps away I thought "Was I really going to do this ? Go up to a total stranger when I can't seem to even look people in the eye when I conversate with them?". Just as I was about to make the decision on turning left to cross the street I had heard a deep mumble that made me stop and turn. It shocked me on how just that mumble had caught my attention and how I knew I wanted to hear more, but at that moment the only thing I could blurt out was a scared , frantic "What?". His response is what shocked me even more was when all I heard was a deep, clear " Eli." . It gave me some sort of feeling that I myself couldn't understand, it was some twisting sensation that had me holding my breath as I could more clearly take in the features of his face. From this proximity I was able to see that the colors of his eyes were a simple brown , something so common yet on him they looked so captivating and foreign.
"what's your name?" he asked starring into what felt like was my soul. Dazed it took me a while to respond to his question, "Odessa." Curiosity crossed his face, it's nothing new to me usually people are a bit stunned by such an outrageous name." So Odessa, what's the reason for you to be walking out this late in the middle of the night?" he asked taking a few steps closer to me, which allowed me to get a better look at his astonishing features. " I seem to like the darkness, it just seems more calming to me. What's your reason for walking this late at night?" "Why not, it's a great night to walk. So what do you say wanna go on a walk with me, since it seems as were the only two out here, why not have a little company?" At first I was hesitant on how to reply, but I felt as if I were meant to."Sure." was all that I could seem to respond with.
Walking down the dark path with a total stranger was a bit alarming, but i felt as if I've known him for quit sometime."What's your story? You must have one, most people don't usually prefer to walk in the dark?" " Don't we all have a story?" I asked trying to avoid the question. " True, but like I said most people wouldn't prefer to walk in this dark, this late at night." slightly annoyed he wouldn't let go of the topic I try and change it, " it's getting late we should probably start heading our own ways." A look of disappointment seem to have crossed his face " alright sounds good." he replied starting to turn back in the direction he came from. From there I myself had started heading my own way home.
Thirty minutes or so passed, and I had finally arrived home around two o' clock in the morning. Heading to my room I went to lie down for bed, contemplating over what had just happened and if i'll ever get the chance to talk to Eli again, or if this will all just be a forgotten memory of the past. I guess with time we all will be able to tell.
