A blonde girl stumbled across the streets, a bottle of sake still in her hand. She had no idea where she was, nor what she was doing.
The girl let out a small hiccup, giggling shortly afterwards.
'Wah the party was so epic!' she mumbled to herself, taking another sip from the bottle in her hand.
Unfortunately, her happy mood didn't last much longer. As she thought back to the party, she remembered how all the other gods and goddesses had teased her about not having a shinki. A small pout formed on her lips. She sat onto the sidewalk, staring at the sky.
'How come even after all these years I still don't have a shinki?'
That was the question Uzume had been asking herself for the last five years. How did Uzume, goddess of happiness and parties, queen of sake, still not have a shinki? The answer was simple, but she wasn't ready to face it.
After a few more minutes of sulking, she decided it would be best to head back to her shrine. Just as Uzume was dusting herself off, a familiar sound came from behind her.
'SMeLls NiCe.'
Without warning, a long tentacle-like thing lashed out at Uzume, sending her flying backwards. She regained her composure in midair, landing a few feet away.
'Oh seriously!' she yelled in outrage, swinging the broken bottle of sake towards the phantom. 'That was a perfectly good bottle of sake you just wasted!'
The blonde eyed the phantom, weighing her options. She didn't have a shinki to call upon, so fighting it would be suicide. But the monster had ruined her sake.
'Oh screw this.'Uzume started walking towards the phantom, breaking into a run when she was a few feet away. Wielding the broken bottle in her hand as a sword, she charged.
She dodged the first few attacks the phantom threw at her, and managed to kick the ayakashi backwards. Just as she felt as though Lady Luck was smiling upon her, everything when downhill. Three new ayakashi appeared, surrounding the lone goddess.
Now Uzume had no choice but to run for her life, silently cursing her bad luck. Uzume thought about the things other deities had said about her. She really was useless. Lost in thought, Uzume failed to dodge the tail of a long serpent shaped phantom.
Soon the blonde girl was on the ground, writhing in pain. Just as Uzume started losing hope, a flash of red passed before her eyes. A red-haired young girl was fighting with the phantoms, and surprisingly, holding her own. It was obvious that she wasn't a normal spirit, she had been trained for this. Uzume stared at the sight in front of her, completely shocked.
Ignoring the pain, Uzume pushed herself up from the concrete ground. Her eyes darted from the redhead to the phantoms, analyzing the current situation. Every move the girl made was graceful, there was no way she was an amateur.
A phantom was sent flying backwards, crashing into an old building. The girl stopped momentarily, looking back at Uzume to see if she was alright. The goddess gave her a bright grin, making the redhead roll her eyes, trying to hide her smile.
Things seemed to be going fine until another bunch of ayakashi joined the party.
'There must be a storm...' Uzume mumbled to herself, gazing at the phantoms multiplying by the second.
A sudden voice jolted Uzume out of her thoughts.
'Oi blondie, there's no way I can deal with all of these dipshits!'
Uzume turned her head towards the redhead, who was busy dancing out of the phantom's reach.
'Are you talking to me?' Uzume asked, uncertainty evident in her voice.
