Chapter Three
When schools over I walk over to my car only to be stopped by Jake. I cringe and hope he gets the hint. He must not be too smart because he doesn't.
"Look, I want to apologize. What I did was wrong. So wrong. Please, believe me when I say I was so drunk I don't remember doing any of it. I'm so sorry about how I acted towards you when we first met when we were with your sister. i was a real jerk and I hope that you don't hate me," Jake says sincerely.
I smile weakly back at him.
"Look, don't worry about it. It wasn't that big of a deal to me really. I know you must be getting a lot of hate. Can I do anything to help? Actually, you know what? Here I'll give you a ride to Starbucks and we can post a picture of us on Instagram and Twitter so people know we're okay. Alright?" I ask.
I don't wait for an answer and shove him in my car. It was a silent way to Starbucks, but it was comfortable silence.
He orders me a frozen latte and himself a regular latte. I smile because somehow he knew my favorite. I go for my wallet, but he put his money up before me.
"Thanks Jake," I say. He smiles at me. He's starting to look comfortable.
"Anytime.. After all you are helping me have every person in the school not hate me," he says.
"Well, it's the least I could do. I mean I already kicked your ass and bruised your ego," I say with a friendly smirk. He smirks back and I stick out my tongue.
"Okay, come over here for the picture," he says after we sit down and grab our seats.
"Okey-Dokey," I say.
I go and sit next to him. He puts his arm over my shoulder and I smile for the picture. He picks up his phone and takes a picture of us. He posts it on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
"Okay, thanks. Hey, I was wondering if you'd like to catch a movie," Jake says.
I check my watch. It's only four thirty and I'm meeting Andrew at seven. Also Mikey's is right next to it. There's definitely time.
"Sure, I'd love to," I say smiling.
When we get to the theater we go and see the Zombie movie of the year! World War Z. I like scary movies, but I still get really scared. I noticed Jake left his hand on the arm of the chair. I tried to not think about it and enjoy the movie, but I couldn't. I glanced up at the screen after a few seconds of not watching and jump. I accidentally put my hand on top of Jakes. I tried to pull my hand off of it as soon as it got on his hand. Instead he held it and gave it a squeeze. His hands were warm. I smiled.
When we got out of the movie Jake laughed.
"That movie wasn't even scary!" He said with a chuckle. I hide how scared I was and laugh with him. We walked slowly out of the theater talking.
I check the time on my phone. Six fifty? Oh shit!
"Hey, excuse me for a second," I say. I walk away and call Andrew.
"Hey Andrew, Can we reschedule?"
"Reschedule? Oh sure. Sounds good," he said nonchalantly. His mind seemed elsewhere.
"Um, oh okay. Will I see you at school tomorrow?" I ask.
"Yeah," he says.
"K bye," I say.
"Who was that?"
I jump.
"God! You scared me!
He laughs lightly.
"Yeah, sorry about that," he says. He sheepishly runs his fingers through his hair and smiles shyly.
"Hey, look its been so much fun, but I better get going," I say twirling a piece of my hair behind my ear.
"Oh. Yeah okay," He says sadly.
I smile at him. Gosh he's handsome. And so tall.
"Yeah," I say.
When I get home I crash on my bed smiling. I pick up my pillow Nick gave to me and throw it into the trash can. I hug myself and fall asleep with a smile on my face.
