With a drop of the judges gavel, starting now my step-father would have custody over me. How did it come to this, you ask? Let's go back to after the party...

Flashing lights. Red, white, blue, red, white, blue and so on in that order. Everything was muffled at first as my lashes slowly battered open and closed. Someone was carrying me but I couldn't make the figure out. The bright lights blinded me. I tried to process everything as my eyes slowly closed. That's when I heard it, the blaring sound of many police sirens and all the commotion all at once. My eyes shot open once I came to realization. Those men and the gun shots that I heard from behind the bathroom door. Where is my mother? Is my sister alright at home?

I began to weakly struggle in the arms of the unknown person. I then felt a drop of water hit my cheek causing me to flinch as one of my eyes close. That's when I saw him. It was my step-dad who had now stopped, looking down at me with tears in his eyes.

"Sena. You're awake. Thank god." His voice was cracked and I could tell from his eyes that there was something off.

I wanted to scream and panic.

My head turned as my eyes trailed around, looking at the police cars and ambulances that had gathered around. We must be out front. "M... om ?" I managed to say as I felt yet another tear hit my cheek, this time it trailed down, dripping off my the side of my face. I looked back up to my step-father who was now sobbing.

"Sena. Y-Your mom... She was kidnapped... I-I was so defenceless..." It was hard to understand him but I managed to make it out on my own, my eyes widening.

I could feel them filling in my eyes.

Tears. Lots of them.

A small gasp escaped my lips. I screamed and cried clinging to my step-father as I could feel him holding me close, allowing me to cry on him.

I became so devastated all at once, wishing I could have done something. Wishing I wouldn't have said those terrible things. Wishing I wouldn't have been a coward.

I feel hands on me as I flinch. It was a man. He was speaking but I didn't know what he was saying. The sounds were too loud. I stood up to follow him over to the ambulance as he begins to check me out to see if I was hurt.

Of course I wasn't. I was hiding in the bathroom safely.

"Is that your dad?" He asks me, referring to Paul.

"N... o. He's my... Step-dad." I'm so weak and my lips are dry. My face must be pale too. He slipped a blanket over my shoulders as I reached up slowly to hold it, tbe fabric warming my cold, exposed shoulders, shivering.

He nods and walks off to talk to the police.

I didn't want to live with my step-dad. I wanted my mother. I began to cry again, the thought sinking into me, not able to comprehend she was gone.

Would they send out a search team? Who were those men?

"Sena." A voice can be heard clearly through the noise, a tone like silk that soothed me and hushed me like a small child. I looked up to meet with hazel green eyes. It was a man. He had dirty brown, messy hair and wore a black shirt and black pants. "Sena Reign?" He asks as I blink.

"That is... Me." I say, a bit confused. I'm no longer at the scene. Instead, I'm sitting in my bed, at home, looking at this stranger in my room.

"You are to start school again next week." He reminds me as I bite my lip. School? After what I went through? How could I show my face to anyone at school again.

I slowly put my head down, frowning. "I don't want to go..." I whisper, a lump forming in my throat.

"Are you scared?"

"Yes."

"Well, you won't have to be."

I look up even more confused. He's smiling but it soon fades back to a serious expression, his voice clearing.

"I am here to serve and protect Sena Reign."

"What?" I raise an eyebrow, holding my bed sheet over my shoulders.

"I'm your bodyguard."
