It had been one year exactly since the monsters were freed from the Underground.

When the barrier had broken, there was a huge flashing light that left Muffet and the entire cave blind for awhile... but they knew in their hearts that the wait was finally over. All the spiders rejoiced and made their way out of the mountain as fast as they could. Muffet watched as her babies spread out in search for their surface cousins, but her heart ached with loneliness as they pitter-patted out of her life and into the sunset.

Though many of the monsters stayed near the mountain after this event, Muffet did not. Just because everyone else was scared of human rejection, she hadn't a care in the world. She was finally free. Breathing real air. Her own feet on real surface soil. Staring into the deep night of a real sky. Something all monsters had dreamed of for years, and it was finally theirs. She wasn't about to hide away from this whole new world, because of some silly humans.

So, Muffet moved to the city closest to Mount Ebott, aptly named, Ebott City. Though lacking a creative name, the spider girl loved it there. After Frisk had a long discussion with her about the health risks of putting spiders in baked goods, she was able to open up her own cafe smack dab in the middle of the city. She even had a cozy little apartment built right above her establishment. She designed and named the shop, and within just 3 months, Miss Muffet's Cafe was open for business! For the first month or so, only Frisk and a couple monsters stopped by. The few humans that did come in usually took one look at Muffet and turned tail right out the door, usually leaving Muffet with tearful gaze. But as the months went on, Frisk and Toriel would encourage people to go into her shop. The spider girl would give out free samples, much to her disliking, and the people seemed to actually enjoy her baking. Thus, business now, a year later.... it was actually quite good.        :)=

It was a slow Sunday afternoon, and Muffet closed up shop to go out for lunch. She usually made her own food at the cafe, but she had heard that Grillby had finally opened up his bar a few blocks down. She never really went there when trapped in the Underground, but it was another monster trying to put himself out in the "business world" of humans. With him being made of fire though, there were a lot more precautions he had to take, but finally seeing his place come to fruition, it was quite the happy sight to see. It was definitely tough for her starting out, so she wanted to show her support. While walking down the street many of the humans averted their eyes or strayed their path when Muffet approached. She sighed heavily, shaking her head in disapproval, but she kept on her merry way. As she bounced along the sidewalk something caught her eye. It was a beautiful, black and purple dress with lots of lace and a big bow... just her style, and it looked to be in her size.

"~With a few adjustments and holes cut out, this could fit me AND all my arms, Ahuhuhu~~!" she said, gleefully, "~It would be perfect for a picnic by the lake with Frisk and Toriel!~"

That was all it took for her to walk in and take a look around. As she opened the door, a little bell rang out just above the door to announce her arrival. Yet, nobody came to greet her. She gave a small shrug and made her way to the dress in question. She tugged at the fabric and searched for the price tag. When she found it, she gave out a little sigh.

"~Boy... that's spendy... buuut....~" she did some calculations in her head and smiled, "~it should be okay!~"

Suddenly, there was a crashing sound behind her. She whipped around to find a small man with narrowed eyes and a receding hairline staring and pointing at her. He had sweat beads forming on his head and his mouth was a gape in fear of her, around him were the shattered remains of what seamed to be some expensive China dishes.

"~Oh...uh, hello sir, I just..~"

"OUT!" he shouted.

"~Wh-what?~" Muffet was confused by the man's harsh tone.

"I SAID GET OUT!" he grabbed a broom and made his way toward her, "YOU WRETCHED CREATURE! OUT OF MY SHOP! I DON'T WANT YOUR MONEY! OUT!" He hit the top of her head with the broom stick.

"~Oww~~!! I just wanted..~"He cut her off again,"OUT!!! OUT!!" he hit her again, but harder.

"~~Oww...~" she backed up and put her hand on the knob, tears forming in her eyes, "~I just wanted to buy your dress, sir..~"

He hit her full force this time knocking her backwards out the door. She fell, twisting her ankle and landing on her back. Many of the humans around looked on with curiosity, as the small man continued to hit her even though she was outside his shop.

"YOU'RE A GROSS MONSTER! DON'T COME BACK! STAY AWAY!"

Over and over the man continued to hit Muffet with the blunt end of the broom stick. Two of her arms breaking on impact. Muffet screamed out in pain, but still nobody helped as the endless amounts of torment came.

She curled up in a ball with two hands protecting her head and two hands reaching out for some form of help, "~P-please...~" she cried out, weakly, "~Do s-something...~"

Just as she had given up hope, a blue light flashed among the crowd. The humans gasped and looked toward the source of the illumination. Muffet, just short of death, looked up through tear-filled eyes at her savior. There was a skull surrounded in blue flame-like light and it muttered the words, "Bad Time"... but before she could witness anything else, Muffet passed out, her mind and body exhausted from the pain inflicted on her.
