My name is Devin Shelton. I am 12 and live with my mom in Miami Florida. Today is March 22nd 12:00. Tonight is the annual Purge. Once a night every year all crimes are legal.
We are heading to the grocery store to get food water ,and supplies . My dad always keep a pocket knife in his pocket. We are lucky to get a locking system , no one gets in ,no one gets out.
7:00 p.m
This is your emergency broadcast system announcing the commensment of the annual purge when the sirens sound all emergency systems will be shut off The government thanks you for your participation.
When the voice is over we all sit in silence . "mom do u think anyone will try to get to us ?" I ask. "
honey, we are safe in here and you know it ."she replies.
9:00 p.m
I am woken by sound of the doorbell. I stand up and walk downstairs to the front door where I find my mom with her head on the table . I walk around the other side of her where I find a spilled bottle of pills . My mom killed herself! I go answer the door to find my best friend Dylan. I unlock the door and he comes in.
" I am so glad your here" I say and hug him . I start to cry and sob. I get us both a glass of water with lemon .I hear the doorbell again and walk that way . I peek out the window and see a person with a doll mask. THAT IS NOT MY FRIEND. they must have been after Dylan.
