Hey Readers of Wattpad, first off I got to be real with everyone and confess I've never written before. Outside of class I try to never pick up a pencil, so this is kind of like a tester for me. If you hate it or love it please tell me!! I like and want the criticism! OK here goes...Thanks guys! (BTW I can't edit so please forgive my horrific grammar.)

August 26th 2010, I wake to the oh so obnoxious alarm clock on my bedside table. It's a little after five o'clock on a rather dull Monday morning. Although for others waking up right now it might not be so dull. Maybe somewhere out there a hard working employee has just been given a raise as the new CEO of an aspiring company. Perhaps an overpaid doctor is delivering a child who will someday cure cancer while simultaneously blogging. But for me fourteen year old Chloe Brookes it might just be the worst morning of my existence because as of today, I am now a freshman at Mark A. Hollingberry High.

Fifteen minutes later I was sitting on my bathroom counter obsessing for the millionth time over my appearance. "Damn you stress!" I was a mess I hadn't been able to sleep well last night and it was showing all over my face. I had all the symptoms of a restless night baggy eyes, those beginning signs of acne, and I swear my hair looked like it had lost in a game of tug of war with my hairbrush. After a dab of cover up here and there, a little eyeliner and mascara, a brush of eye shadow and a gentle amount of lip gloss I was satisfied. Smoothing down my new Charlotte Russe polo over my denim skinny jeans I quickly grabbed my DC's and ran to the kitchen for a light breakfast.

While munching down on my favorite Resse's Puffs cereal I feel my phone vibrate in my back right hand pocket. I had two text messages one from my best friend Skylar telling me exactly where to meet up with her and another from my step mom saying we would leave in twenty minutes. "Mornin' Kid" My older brother of three years Ethan stumbles in looking as tired as I felt. "Hey bro..." I mutter "Still adjusting to the early schedule I see..." he motions to my still half eaten cereal turning soggy in front of me. “Yep I can still remember my freshman year, but thank god this is my last year." He continued while I sort of zoned out wondering what my first day would be like since we didn't attend the same school.

Ethan was starting his senior year today at Westbrook High. Sure I could've gone to school with him and let him show me the ropes of high school but it just didn't feel right. You see our parents divorced when I was only a year old, I don't remember any good times of my parents together. Ethan can recall minor details but that's about it. Couple months after I'm born I guess my mom thought it would be a better match with her and her boss. My dad found out and of course they tried to work it out, but I guess some things just can't be fixed. I've never really forgave my mom for tearing up our family when I was so young. Ethan on the other hand adjusted better than I ever could. It gets to me sometimes that I'll never know if my parents really were happy, but when I turned twelve I moved into my dad's house while Ethan stuck to the visitation schedule and stayed with our mom. Anyway my dad met a woman named Sofia a little while after that. They fell in love and we all got along so well that my dad married her a few years later. I can't remember her not being around. She's been there when I couldn't find a connection with my biological mother. Sofia has been so close with Ethan and I we just consider her to be our mom too. Thirteen years later and here we are.

"Are you guys ready?" Sofia called from the hallway snapping me back into reality. “Shit, bro we gotta go!” I stammer “Be right there Ma” we both reply. I grab my bag and immediately call shot gun while Ethan is still cleaning up his mess of a breakfast. “There’s no way, kid I’m older!” he whines. “But clearly not the wiser, come on I’ll race you for it!”  I retort getting a head start while he jogs after me. Sofia is waiting for us in the driveway already starting the car. “Yes! Too bad sis,” He shouts as I climb into the back seat “I had to let you win Bro otherwise you’d bitch to mom the whole ride to school.” “Enough you two…Ethan your drop off is first then Chloe can hop up front Deal?” Sofia doesn’t wait for our reply and slowly pulls out of the driveway. Ethan turns on the radio and to everyone’s delight the latest Maroon Five song is on. Ethan does his weird sing/talk thing that would make Simon Cowell run away screaming into the night with ear plugs. “Give it up Bro you were born to listen to the choir not join in…” I mumble. He happily flips me the bird and within minutes we are in Westbrook’s parking lot. “Bye mom, bye Kid don’t get wedgies on your first day!’ he says “Bite me” i laugh as he gives mom a hug goodbye. “You should really try and get along betterwith your brother; He’s the only one you’re going to get…” she explains “Maybe but sometimes I get the feeling I should’ve been first born, like maybe I could set the example for him.” I pounder on the thought for a second as Sofia eases back out into traffic and heads east towards my new school and possibly my biggest challenge in life.
