"Do you see what you make me do?" He's yelling so loud, I'm sure anyone in the area can hear it. "I love you! You make me do this! Do you see?"
He only gets louder, screaming more obscenities as he hurls a table at me.
"Stop it, please... I love you, Alan, I love you..." I beg, pulling myself back up. I can taste blood on my lips.
"Stop? You make me do this! Stop lying!"
He's never done this before, never been like this. His entire demeanor changed, and that's the scariest part. I don't even know where we are. When he notices that I am going to speak again, he throws himself on top of me, our faces so close I can feel his nose on mine.
"No more lies from you! No more!"
He's viciously beating me. I can't even fight back, he's too strong, I'm too weak.
I make him do this? He loves me? He's never said anything, no, this isn't love.
I'm in a daze when he finally lets up. From the little that I can tell, he looks calm. But I'm conscious enough to know that he isn't. Now I know what true fear is, I realize he is going to kill me, and I can't do a thing.
"You see how crazy you make me, Olivia?" His voice is hushed, but it isn't long until he starts yelling again. "This is your fault, you made me!"
He screams, kicking the side of my head, and I feel it crack. A shrill noise fills the air as my chest caves in, taking a long shaky breath. Everything around me becomes bright for a moment, and all I see is white. Then darkness.
I am falling. Spinning, like Alice when she fell down the hole on her way to Wonderland. Except I am not in Wonderland, more like a world where the air is made of mist, a thin mist, that makes it look like I'm staring through a veil. I see Alan staring at a wall and whispering to himself. There's a girl on the floor with a bloody face, the side of her head is bashed in and thick red, blood is slowly oozing from it. She's wearing my prom dress. Needles prick my veins when I realize that the girl is me, and the world around me begins to swirl in and out again. Only this time, I don't faint.
"A fresh one!"
I don't recognize this voice, but it sounds like a growl, like the man talking is an animal.
"It should be easy then!" A woman's voice this time, and it's so shrill that it feels like my eardrums are being pierced.
Five hooded figures circle me, and I am vaguely reminded of the grim reaper. They close in and I scream as loud as I can. Alan does not notice, it's like he can't hear me. These beings do not walk but they glide. Their laughter sounds like a snake hissing.
I don't know who they are or what they want, but I don't have a good feeling. I turn on my heels and run, straight through the door. I winced and paused expecting to feel an impact.
This is strange.
I know they're still coming for me, so I snap out of it and begin running again. I don't stop until I enter a clearing in the woods and hear nothing.
Where the hell am I? What is this...
I sit in the clearing and hold my hands out in front of my face, just staring at them. I'm not sure how much time went by before I heard that terrible hissy laughter again. Only this time, a dark cloud like image manifests around me, which slowly forms into those dark beings I had just been running from.
"Hey! Hey! Leave her alone!"
A new voice this time, and he keeps yelling even as they hiss at him. He somehow manages to get them away. They just sort of...evaporate. I drop to my knees and start shaking.
"Hey," He's kneeling beside me now, "Are you okay?"
"What- what happened to me?" My voice is shaking, "Am I dead? I'm dead, he killed me..."
A female voice behind me snorts. "Going after new souls now, classy of them..."
