Chapter Two-“Love is the glamour which turns the dust of everyday life into a golden haze.”

Soon we arrived at the manor house of St Brooke Garden’s just south of Wickham. Our Maserati Granturismo pulled up onto the pebbled ground outside the building.

I pulled the door open and adjusted my dress and pressed down loose ends of my hair.

Once again Cassie looked irritable. In her light blue floaty dress which stopped just above her knee. She looked far too old to be in something like that.

“Act your age Cassie” I snorted as I took my Dads arm as he helped me avoiding my fall as I walked over the gravel-like ground.

I heard Cassie scramble into a run behind us, trying to catch up with my father and take possession over him, leaving me by myself as normal and so I quickened my pace, telling my Dad I was excited and wanted to see the inside of the manor.

I pulled my mask out of my clutch bag. The gold crested cover glinted from the light that shone above the porch. It contained red and silver jewels.

I placed it around my head and headed off inside.

As we arrived inside, the light above us flickered on revealing tonight ballroom. The walls where white washed but somehow contained their shine. On the left side where four compartments with gold curtains shielding them with potted plant outside each one of them.

In the middle of the dance floor was a round circle, with a mix of golden designs inside. Around the tops of the walls where portraits of many businessmen, family of the owner I would have suspected. At the top of the ceiling hung a chandelier, with thousands of diamond lights.

On the right hand side of the dance floor where 4 doors, leading into different rooms.

By now, lots of people had gathered around the room and where having a drink from the bar

. I walked towards the desk, to collect my booklet with who I was dancing with. I checked the names of the people I was going to dance with.

1.     David Bridges

2.    Harry Davies

3.    Nicky Gilbert

4.    Blake Swift

5.Frankie Cocozza

6.    Damien Spencer

7.     Jacob Laurtner

8.    Zachary Connor

9.    Blake Swift

10.  Daniel Wix

I giggled; my Dad would want the first dance. I glanced around the hall, to see my Dad walking towards me with his arm held out.

“Steph Bridges, could I have this dance?” He asked, a smirk upon his lips

“Yes Daddy” I smirked as I took his hand. We danced along to the song played on the large sound system at the back of the hall. He spun me round as I laughed hysterically. I gazed around the hall, seeing Cassie, a frown disfigured on her face as she danced with an elderly gentleman. She found my gaze and mouthed words of discomfort and hatred. I smiled back at her like nothing had happened, this would annoy her.

“Steph, can I ask you something?” He asked, he looked uncertain.

“Of course Dad” I said, I loved my dad, I liked talking to him.

“Why do you hate Cassie?” He asked.

I gave him the ‘are you seriously asking that’ look. He seriously didn’t know she made my life hell. He seemed to only see what I did to her, me and my luck.
