Annabeth

In my dream, I was back in the clearing that Percy and I had discovered in the Labyrinth. It was dimly lit, with only two torches to support the light, so I could barely make out the two figures that were talking in the center of the room.

I immediately recognized the two voices as Luke's and Ethan's, the two men we had heard discussing the plot to overthrow Olympus.

"How is the plan going so far, Ethan?"

"It is going extremely well, Luke. The son of Poseidon and the daughter of Athena seem to be progressing at a nice rate. They argue and bicker, but they seem to be getting along much better as time goes on. Just perfect for our plans."

"Excellent. We shall see how my former student holds up to the monsters we have set in the Labyrinth when the next stage of the plan is activated."

It was like I could physically hear the bitterness in Luke's voice as he talked about Percy. I flinched, and he continued, "the gods will have no chance once our secret weapon is activated.

"Come, Ethan. We must work quickly."

As the dream melted, I was left with so many questions. What was the next stage of the plan? What was the secret weapon? What was going to happen to Percy and I?

I awoke with a start, everyone else still sound asleep beside me. A quick glance at the torches showed that I hadn't been out for that long, and as I sat up, I saw Percy sitting by the entrance to the clearing, wide awake and in deep thought.

Quietly, I stood up and crept behind Percy. An evil thought formed in my mind and I grinned wickedly. Sliding my arms around his neck, I deepened my voice and said, "Give me the girl, and no one else gets hurt."

Before I could even finish the sentence, Percy whirled around and pinned me to the ground. My body was shaking with laughter, but as I looked up into his eyes, I saw nothing but a murderous look combined with pure anger, and my smile vanished.

Why was he so furious at what I had done?

The look in his eyes melted away and he snapped, "That's not funny Annabeth. I was really worried that something was going to happen to you."

"Sorry Percy. Won't happen again," I said, trying to figure out why he would act like that.

I paused, realizing that Percy's body was pressed flush against mine, and a deep red blush bloomed over my cheeks.

"Um... Percy, can you get off me?"

He blushed a deep crimson, realizing his position. "Oh, yeah. Sorry."

He got up off of me, and I missed the feeling of his body pressed against mine. I sat up next to him, and said, "Anything exciting happen yet, Seaweed Brain?"

"Not yet. Just sitting here. Why are you even up? Aren't you supposed to be sleeping?"

I sighed. "Yeah. Just a bad dream keeping me up. I hate getting demigod dream. Its like they keep me up all night worrying about them."

"Then just don't worry about them," Percy teased.

I glared at him, but just sighed and wrapped my arms around my legs.

"Why are you so alert at this time anyways? It's hard being first watch. I thought you would have dozed off by now."

"Annabeth, I never sleep on first watch. Ever. Plus, just knowing you're here makes me want to stay awake. Just so I can make sure nothing happens to you, Or to anybody."

The way he spoke made me feel like there was something he wasn't telling me, but he obviously didn't want to talk about it, so I didn't push further.
