"Make it stop!" She begged. The vibrating pain in her head had now transferred to her chest, constricting her oxygen level. She was coated in a thick layer of sweat, her body heat rising every minute. The doctors and nurses that surrounded her spoke in rapid German, concern and stress etched in their faces.
Kadie let out another screech as a wave of convulsions pulsed through her. She sobbed hysterically, completely unaware of the silent shadows that watched her outside the window.

James crawled desperately to the phone, his body refusing to give into the violent spasms that consumed his muscles. His head throbbed and he felt like an immobile piece of lead, but he didn't care, he needed an ambulance now.
"Nine-one-one, what's your emergency?" A woman asked at the other end of the receiver.
"P-P-Please, I-I need," he took a deep breath and panted heavily before speaking once again, "Pain, l-lots of p-ain."
In such distress, the young man — or rather teenage boy — failed to notice the dark hooded men watching silently from afar.

"Mahamed, call your brother now!" The woman screamed frantically at her husband who shuffled out of the room looking for the nearest phone. Indira Dhuharjiv's sixth and youngest child shook furiously on his makeshift bed.
The room around him was spinning in different directions, giving him a gnawing headache. He felt flashes of heat that burned his entire core, only to shiver in coldness less than a second later. With everything that was happening to him, Peter was blind to the predators that lurked in the shadows, watching—always watching.
Subject: Mikayla Akiyama

She knew she would regret this trip. Now she hopelessly wished she agreed to going to the Bahamas with her parents. Instead, she foolishly thought that she could reconnect to her roots at the small Japanese house that belonged to her strict grandparents. How she wished she was back in Vancouver.
But despite all her wishes, Mikayla lay on the floor; alone and in complete and utter pain. She felt as if her skin was about to melt off and her head would explode. She cussed angrily as the pain got more intense. Am I dying? She didn't want that; to die without anyone there. But she was wrong, there was someone there. A darkness she couldn't see.
Subject: Justin Smith
Location: Toronto, Canada
Date: 08/03/2009

"Jay, are you sure you're okay?" Her grip tightened around her boyfriend's arms.
"Fine," he muttered, eyes closed and hands clenched. "Just call the doc—"
Justin fell to the ground, his legs suddenly giving in to the numbness that succumbed his body. He felt a thick, smooth and heavy substance climbing up his throat. Blood. In a flash, red stains decorated his girlfriends white bedsheets. His head turned to the side, facing the window. In a panic, his girlfriend of seven months grabbed his head and screamed his name. Too late. If he had left his head facing the window open to the outside world, he would have seen them.
But they always found a way to be invisible.

"How many more files?"
"One hundred and fifteen."
"You're lying."
"I have them if you want proof."
"It can't be possible."
"Oh, but it is. They're all just like you."
"So what does this mean?"
"War. Not just a war, but a battle that will destroy us all. This is an apocalypse."
