THE BIG FOUR STORY: Chapter 39 - The Red Death returns

Rapunzel's P.O.V

“*Cough* *Cough* Jack?” I asked hoarsely as I sat up from the ground. “What in the world happened?” I asked myself. I scanned the area to see that the land around us was completely destroyed. Shards of ice were scattered about the starched ground.  I heard a soft groan and my head instantly turned twords the sound. About a three feet away from me was Jack laying idle on the ground, he was unmoving. I felt my stomach drop as I expected the worst. “Jack! Oh no please….Jack you can’t leave like this!” I cried as I ran towards his body. His pale white skin was dirty with ash and his navy hoodie was burnt in some places. “Jack…” I trailed as I felt my eyes begin to water. I cradled his head in my lap and stroked his hair lovingly. “Rapunzel?” He suddenly murmured. “Jack?!” I questioned. “*Cough* Are you alright?” He asked as he reached out wiped away my tears. I laughed at myself and shook my head at him. “I thought you were dead Jack.” I laughed. “Aww come on Punzie give me a little more credit you can’t get rid of me that easily.” Jack teased as he sat up and shook his head in attempt to rid the ash that covered him. “What do you think happened?” I asked him. Suddenly the same ear piercing roar echoed causing mw to cover my ears. Jack clasped his hands over mine, which were covering my ears, protectively. The roar finally silenced and a large shadow appeared in the sky which blocked the sun. Both Jack and I looked up to see what caused the sudden shade. I instantly regretted looking up. The sky was dark with multiple hordes of nightmares, but there was one that was pure horror. It was larger than any other nightmare dragon. It was the Mother of all dragons. “The Red death.” A voice gasped behind me. I quickly turned to see Merida and Hiccup right next to us on Toothless. “There you guys are!” I stated in pure relief. “We are going to need all the help we can get.” I groaned. “Yeah it sure looks like it.” Merida exclaimed as she let loose multiple arrows at the beasts in the sky. “Wait did you just say the Red Death Hic?” Jack asked Hiccup. The Viking nodded his head yes slowly keeping his eyes locked on the sky that was filled with an army of nightmares. “ The Red Death?” Jack asked again. “Yes Jack the gigantic monster that nearly cost me my life! And my best friend’s…” Hiccup shouted but then trailed as he patted Toothless’ head. Jack stepped back and but his hands up in surrender as the dragon purred contently. “Ok we need to keep our heads here. What is the game plan?” Merida asked seriously. “We need to make sure none of these nightmares make it to the village.” Jack stated. “Worst case scenario I can call in the gang from Berk to help out.” Hiccup offered. Merida scoffed and readied another arrow. “We won’t need them.” She scoffed. Hiccup rolled her eyes at her but laughed off his annoyance quickly. “Merida and I will take the sky, Jack and Rapunzel you two fight on the ground.” Hiccup ordered. “Got it Chief!” I saluted as I lifted my frying pan in a saluted manner. Hiccup nodded in our direction and directed Toothless to take off and then they were gone as quickly as they came.
