Callan had gotten out of bed that morning, very late for school. He didn't care though. It was his first day as a senior in a new school, it was his first night in a new house with a new smell, and a new room, and he couldn't stand it. He had moved from Virginia all the way to old humid Florida, because his father was stationed there. His father was a marine and although they were very lucky to be living in Virginia for almost his whole life, Callan knew to be aloof from others. He didn't want to hurt himself or anyone by falling in love, or make a best friend who he'd have to leave sooner or later so he was distant.

"I made you a bagel and why are you up so late? It's 7:45; school starts in fifteen minutes get dressed and leave before you miss class." John, his father said.

"Okay, I need my keys though, where are they?" Callan replied.

"On the counter, make sure to eat breakfast. I'm leaving, have fun at school."

"Yeah ok." He sarcastically spoke back, but made it soft enough for his father no to hear.

He got into his Jeep and drove away. He had to go to the office first so he sped across the hall, but he tripped on some club paper and fell face first. Relieved that no one was around to catch a glimpse of him falling, he quickly got up and remained fixed to the floor. The white tile he was walking on reminded him of his old house, he quickly drove the thought out, not wanting to remember how sad he was when his dad reported the moving confirmation. When he went inside he saw the lady at the front desk and told her his name, Callan Rivers. She gave him his schedule and scowled him for being late; he missed his first period, great. When he looked for room 187 door to door, not paying attention to the hallway he ran into someone. "I'm so sorry," she said with so much sympathy, "I was reading this book and I ran right into you!" pause. There was a silence as they both got up, and Callan realized he didn't say a word, she felt embarrassed also, he could tell by her skin having a more reddish tone. She was so beautiful. He drew her in his mind, brown curls with blonde highlights, perfect lips, a cute crooked smile, and her eyes. Her eyes were what caught his attention; it was with those eyes that you could see through a person's soul. Her eyes were so beautiful with a mixture of gray and blue and a tint of green. She had smizing eyes when she ran into him, or he ran into her? He didn't care, she was like an angel that ascended from heaven and he wanted to hear her sympathetic voice again, oh if only he could hear her voice and see those eyes again. He had to find out what her name was.

"Anna, we are all learning, how about you? Now put your book away and pay attention in class." Her history teacher had startled her while she was writing one of her stories, she figured that Mrs. Humphries wouldn't notice her briskly writing ideas on a crumbled piece of paper she had found on the floor, she was out of paper from writing so much and longed for more. Anna was an excellent writer, but she was very shy when it came to sharing her stories with other people. She had always been a quite beautiful girl, but she would always hide her beauty through sweat pants and sweat shirts and an elastic hair band that would pull back her beautiful curls, but today she let the wild hair loose and it danced away as she walked to her next class.

Callan had science next and wasn't ready to endure the long excruciating hour and a half listening to an old bag talk about cells and etcetera, but his mind changed when he saw the beautiful girl enter the classroom. He quickly walked inside and scoped the place out looking for her and saw her sitting in the back crouched down behind a large notebook she was writing in. He wanted to sit over there, but was afraid his mind would go blank if she looked at him with those eyes, thinking of her eyes made him blush a little, and when he straightened himself out he made up his mind and walked to the empty seat right beside her. When he sat down she didn't even look up, he felt embarrassed about his stupid mistake. What should I say? He thought. Then she realized she wasn't alone and quickly she greeted him, "Hi, I guess we'll be science buddies."
