Canvas, barrier
Wings, cage
You are all of these things
Paper thin walls
Door, wall
Hope, loss
This is what you give me
Paper thin walls
Though your definition is black and white
You are as colorful as the morning sky
You give hope to my dreams
And cage my confidence
You are nothing
Yet you are everything
You hold no meaning
But carry the meaning of the universe
I can't live with you
And can't live without you
The words of the greats are carved into you
And the wisdom of a toddler scribbled on your skin
Society has discarded you
But still I need you
Though one day you will destroy me
You give me the breath of life
