It was petrifying.
I stumbled back in horror, tripping over the covered bodies as my eyes focused on the demonic intruder advancing towards me.
My vision started to become blurry and I thrashed around, looking for something to act as a weapon.
There was nothing and I went crashing onto the ground with a thud. My face smacked against the cold concrete floor, leaving a stinging sensation on my cheek,
"Tynan!" I screamed. I frenziedly clambered forward on my hands and knees and held my hand out towards his covered body.
"I can't!" he yelled. He squirmed and crept towards me, still cloaked under his blanket.
Smells of rotting meat, burning and sewage pierced my senses. It slithered closer, growing larger in stature by the minute as it evaporated the hiding guards, in its path, beneath its murky form.
Black vapours oozed from the liquid form and drifted into the air, making its way towards me.
The murky vapours amalgamated into a faint gassy black rope that flew into the air and whipped my back with a piercing burn.
There was nowhere to run and I could feel myself getting weaker but I didn't know why or how this creature was drawing on my energy.
My legs were the first to go.
They felt like jelly and I knew I could no longer crawl towards Tynan. I attempted to drag my heavy body away from the flogging entity but my limps were losing the fight,
"Use the light within" a familiar voice whispered in my ear.
I remembered his healing touch as the tingling sensation returned to my brow,
"But you told me not to" I panted through excruciating lashings, confused with the contradicting command,
"No one can see you. They are all hiding. Use it otherwise it will kill you. We need you, Lucia" the invisible guide anxiously advised.
I had no idea what to do.
I could feel the heat scorching my back and I knew it was now or never.
Something within me blasted alive, creating an explosion of energy and a blinding light that rippled through my veins and behind my closed eyes.
I reached out and grabbed onto Tynan's covered hand,
"Don't get out until I tell you to" I warned.
I don't know why I warned him.
I didn't even know what I was going to do but I felt compelled to keep him covered, feeling that no matter what he did to me, it couldn't be as bad as what this evil creature had in store when I turned over.
It was time to find out.
I slowly rolled over and felt a thick liquid drip onto my face, singing my skin on impact.
Taking a deep breath, I cautiously opened my eyes, not sure if I could deal with this invading force.
It snapped and thrashed towards me but grew frustrated by a developing barrier that shimmered between us.
The glittering white dome covered my body as the feeling returned to my dormant limps and I jumped up and backed away from the attacking intruder, gaining confidence by the second,
"What are you doing?" the troll gasped from his hiding place.
"Stay there" I growled.
The troll did as he was told and ducked down in his hiding place to watch the events unfold.
