One week later
*Sam's POV*
I splashed the cool water onto my face and grabbed the towel off of the side of the sink. I looked in the mirror and ran my hands through my sandy blonde faux hawk. My brain was going crazy. My hands were twitching uncontrollably. I quickly picked up the metallic container on the sink and twisted off the top. I shook the container as two white pills fell into my hand. I popped them in my mouth and took a gulp of water from the tap. I swallowed the pills, and immediately felt calmer. I walked over to the rickety window of the warehouse and watched Paige fiddle with the car as I shook off the last of the twitching.
"You almost done?" I turned around to see Becca standing in the door frame.
"Hey." I slipped on a tank top and wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans, taking a step away from the window.
"You feeling ok?" She whispered and walked over slowly. We hooked up a couple months ago but we've only ever been... Make-out buddies... I guess. You could say that we are semi-dating.
"Now I am." I put down the metallic container on the sink. She walked up to me and wrapped her arms around my waist, resting her head on my chest. Her fiery ombré hair, soft on my skin.
"You shouldn't be taking those." She mumbled.
"I can't stop." I replied. She pulled away, the warmth of her body leaving mine always hurts. She walked through the door and walked into my bedroom. I slowly followed her. I waited in the door frame and watched her walk over to my broken-down bed and sit down.
"You ready for today?" She spoke quietly.
"Yup, I'm totally ready to shoot people in the head from far away, just so I can make millions." She smiled at me. She had a beautiful smile. I walked over to her, looking into her pale blue eyes. I put one knee on the bed next to her and tilted her head up with my right hand. She of course made the first move, her warm lips pressed against mine. She wrapped her cold hands around the back of my neck.
"Sam, Sparks, we're having our final meeting before the big heist!" Charlie yelled from downstairs. I pulled away, wishing we could stay here forever.
"Still haven't told them your real name?" I pressed my forehead against hers. She quickly ducked under my right arm, and walked towards the door that lead to the hallway.
"Nope, and I'm not planning on it." She opened the door and went to the meeting. I sat on the edge of the bed and rested my head in my hands. This is the biggest robbery of our lives. I can't mess this up. I can't mess this up. I stood up and walked out the door to the meeting, trying to ignore the feeling in the pit of my stomach that something was going to go very wrong.********
*Percy's POV*
I stood in the big house with Annabeth, wondering why Chiron had called us here.
"Relax Seaweed Brain. It's probably about the new unclaimed camper." She took my hand and I relaxed a little. Yeah, the new girl. I heard the clomping of hooves on the porch outside, and glanced at the door. It swung open as if on cue, and Chiron walked in, ducking under the doorway.
"Percy, Annabeth, I'm glad you came on such short notice." He put a pile of papers on the coffee table and gestured for us to take a seat in the small living room.
"So why are we here?" I asked him sceptically as I took a seat.
"That is why we are here." He pointed at the papers. "Or I should say they." Annabeth picked up the papers and flipped through them.
"The Misfits?" Annabeth questioned. I had heard that before but I'm not sure where.
"Yes, the Misfits. The worst group of criminals in the world." That's where.
"Well what do you want us to do about them?" I asked as Annabeth passed the papers to me. The papers were files about the members of the group, with pictures attached to the back of the pile.
"We have recently been watching the group and have found out the every single one of them is a demigod." I laughed at Chiron's last statement, while Annabeth's jaw dropped. Once I stopped laughing, the look on his face was not the joking kind.
"Wait, seriously?" I looked between the two of them, Annabeth still shocked.
"I wouldn't be joking about something so serious."
"Well... What does this have to do with us?" I was already worried about what he would say next.
"I know this is very inconvenient, especially during Frank and Hazel's visit, but I need all 7 of you for this plan to work." Oh no.
"I need the 7 of you to capture the 10 fugitives, and bring them to camp before the police can arrest them."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
"You want us to capture fugitives?" I yelled the last word, still in utter shock. I'm pretty sure Chiron had finally lost it.
"Chiron this is crazy!" Annabeth was almost yelling.
"Everyone has a good side, and we can help these demigods find theirs." I guess he had a point but this was still insane.
"How could this possibly be a good plan?" Annabeth sounded so shocked, I thought she might scream.
"Annabeth I need all of you to agree if this is going to work. When they do get to camp, they will be detained until proven safe with the rest of the campers. I have already told the rest of the seven, but Frank, Hazel, and Piper refuse unless you two think it's a good idea. Please Annabeth. These demigods are good kids." Now he really sounds crazy, but I think this would be easy. Nothing to really put up a fuss about. I mean they must have a nice side. And based on the 18-25 age range, they must be dealing with monsters.
"I'm down." I said more to Annabeth then Chiron.
"What!" Now she was yelling.
"This is crazy!" She stood up and walked out of the big house fuming.
"I'll convince her Chiron, don't worry." I stood up and ran after Annabeth.
"Annabeth! Annabeth!" I ran after her, as she walked so quickly I almost had to sprint. I finally reached her and grabbed her wrist. She whipped around.
"Percy this is insane! These people are dangerous! This is completely ludicrous!"
She yelled at me, drawing stares from other campers.
"Since when have our lives been anything but ludicrous? Wise girl, we can help them! They are in danger the older they get, and not just from the police! You know monsters will kill them. I know you wouldn't want 10 demigod deaths on your hands! I certainly don't!" She stared at me. I could almost see the gears turning in her eyes as she thought about what I said.
"What if they don't want to be taken, which they won't, and they fight back?" I guess she had a point.
"We killed thousands of monsters, we killed Gaea, we survived Tartarus! Suddenly you think we can't take on a couple of demigods and bring them to camp?" She looked away from me for a moment, then sighed knowing I was right.
"Hey Brochacha and Brosita, let's get to planning, because based on my calculations, their next robbery is in 5 hours and I know where." Leo appeared out of no where and grabbed both of our arms, dragging us to the Hephaestus cabin.
